The Jerry Doyle Show (and me on it!)
December 8, 2005 | Hildy

Posted on 12/08/2005 11:12:46 AM PST by Hildy

I just bought a new car and had Sirius satellite radio installed so I'm getting acquainted with some of right wing talk show hosts I've never heard before. Two days ago, I was listening to Jerry Doyle (apparently he is on in San Diego where I moved from, but I never listened to him). The subject was Congressional ethics and are they all corrupt. I called and got on quickly to say that the Duke Cunningham revelations changed my mind on Reps vs. Dems. I believe they're all corrupt and it's the system that makes them corrupt. I said I believe most men and women go to Washington in the beginning with good intentions .... to change the world...but the system lays in wait for them to feel invincible because all humans are corruptable. He went off with that and I didn't get a chance to say what I really wanted to say so I emailed him when I got home. I don't have a copy of the email, but the gyst of it was that what Cunningham should do while he rots in prison is write a book, explaining what happens to a good man when he gets to Washington and he should name names, spill the beans because you can't tell me that he was living on a yacht, driving a Rolls Royce and NOBODY KNEW. THEY ALL KNEW and they all knew because THE ALL DO IT. I said not only would an honest book perhaps change Washington and the direction this Country is going, but it's probably the only way Cunningham can find redemption for his soul.

Well, yesterday morning a get a call from Jerry Doyle himself. At first I didn't even know who it was! He said he got my note and he thinks it's a great idea and they'e contacted Duke's office to start putting pressure and "suggesting" that he do just that...SPIILL THE BEANS although Jerry himself thinks that the machine has already probably gotten to him.

Yesterday on his radio show, Jerry read my email in its entirety, gave me the credit and is on a mission to convince Cunningham to do what I suggested. Will it work? Probably not...but it was nice.

If you guys haven't listened to Doyle, give him a shot. You can see if he's on in your town by going to his website Jerrydoyle.com.

I like him because he tells it like it is. He's not a Republicans are great not matter what guy. And I'm more and more getting to the point, like alot of us here, where we know there's a need for something else, another party, a different system....He's very smart, funny and tells it as it is...I think he's most like Michael Savage without the mental illness!!! Give him a try if you can and let me know what you think. He's a good guy, into activism...plus, how often does a radio call in host call YOU????!!!! LOL!!!!

Anyone else ever have an experience with him?

I hope you enjoy the Sirius radio, it's the best Christmas present my wife ever gave me.

Now that you have heard your first Jerry Doyle show, you have heard ALL of the Jerry Doyle shows. I'm sure he talks about other topics, but I haven't heard him do so.

FYI, Doyle played the character "Garibaldi" on Babylon 5, started acting as a Bruce Willis look-alike on Moonlighting, ran for Congress as a Republican in LA, and has a lot of NYC police officers in his family. I've found his show on a local talk station in Central NJ in the afternoon and he's subbed for Laura Ingraham. I've gotten email back from him, too, so he does read his email. I think he sometimes leans more libertarian than conservative but his heart seems to be in the right place even where I don't agree with him.

I listen to Jerry Doyle quite often. He's pretty good, but doesn't seem significantly different than Medved or Snow to me. His insights into the Hollywood mentality are pretty interesting...as are his insights into CA politics. He has a lot of experience with both.

As with many people, I knew of him from watching Babylon 5. His character was very, VERY non-PC, so I naturally liked it. He's said more than once that the character was basically his personality in a costume.

When he started talking about having his own show, he made it very clear that he would continue to tell it like he sees it. I've been following him ever since, and i was one of his first encouragers. I've had a couple of short emails with him, and he seems to respect the fans and enjoys directly corresponding when he can.

Unfortunately, I can't pick up his show on the AM dial. After hours around where I live, the appropriate affiliate loses reception completely.

Frustrating.

I have heard his show once or twice on trips, and he's really quite good.

He was also married to once Babylon 5 costar Andrea Thompson (who did a bried stint as an anchor at CNN) and I think they had a child together.

I believe they're all corrupt and it's the system that makes them corrupt.

How Marxist.

What's the cough cough mean?...what I meant was he's more independent and, unlike other talk show hosts (Hannity), doesn't try to prop up the Repubicans every single chance he gets. Right now, I'm pretty pissed at Republicans myself, so he's just echoing how I feel.

What else could you expect from Michael Garibaldi from Babylon
5.
He also filled in for Bill Bennett at least once on his morning show. I think he's great.. very funny stories about Hollywood
and about working on B-5.

I recall an anecdote that he suggested that application of the death penalty be speeded up to the point where the state would need to replace the electric chair with "electric bleachers". JMS wrote that into a subsequent Garibaldi line.

You need to grow up a bit.

EVERYONE is not corrupt.

We hardly need a book by a crook. We've already had all we can stomach from the Klinton's.

If you would criticize a particular person that would be one thing, but to say you're annoyed with Republicans is intellectually vapid.

Have you listened to Hannity lately? He has been taking Republicans to the woodshed.

You mean there was actually a time that you weren't upset with Republicans?!

[I find WHINOS as offensive as RINOS!]

"I like him because he tells it like it is. He's not a Republicans are great"

That was what I came away with as well. That is such a trite phrase, and I'm old enough to remember it's creation as a left wing retort to fiery rhetoric from Black Panthers, and assorted hippies. "Like it is" is in the eyes of the beholder.

Isn't he the guy Glenn Beck has disinvited from guesting ever again?
He works the same ground as Dr. Savage, but not as well.
