That's probably the longest continuous sleep they've had since before their freshman year.

Looks like some midshipmen need their butts kicked.
If the President is going to give a speech to your group (any group) the press will be there. They will take pictures of you if you do anything out of order to make the President look bad. Therefore don't do anything out of order.

Are they sure this was BEFORE Bush's speech?
I would think it was during Kerry's response.
[Heck. They're college kids. College kids live on little sleep. They get a quick nap whenever they can.]

I am sure that Rueters views this as a negative; however, learning to catch a little shut-eye when possible is a great skill for most and can be essential for these future leaders.

You catch naps whenever you can. I remember the days of sleeping while standing in formation.

Cat naps are a skill you acquire quickly in the military. Good sleep is hard to come by.

These guys were probably up at 5am to do PT; some running around the campus; hit showers; jump into uniforms; and be in their seats at 8:45 am.
I'll surely give them a break, why can't the media do the same??????

Having gone to school there (which we used to refer to as the Modern Man's Monastery, before women were admitted) I can guarantee you that no midshipman will EVER pass up a chance to catch 40 winks. A section of the USNA chapel was known as 'Sleepy Hollow.'

Well, they certainly roused themselves enough to give thundering applause during the speech. I guess Rooters didn't feeeeeel it was necessary to report that.
