Pro-life Christians harrassed, arrested, and chased out of Connecticut
Life and Liberty Ministries ^ | 11/16/05 | Dennis Green

In July of 2004, LLM's Truth Truck was pulled over by a Connecticut State Police Officer. This out-of-control Officer demanded that I immediately remove the pro-life messages that were displayed on the truck. He then proceeded to arrest my passenger, Michael Marcavage, charging him with two fabricated crimes. Then I was instructed to leave the State immediately or risk arrest myself.

Today we received word that the prosecutor was no longer pursuing the case against Michael and entered a nolle prosequi.

Nolle Prosequi defined: Latin for "we shall no longer prosecute." At trial, this is an entry made on the record by a prosecutor in a criminal case stating that he will no longer pursue the matter. An entry of nolle prosequi may be made at any time after charges are brought and before a verdict is returned or a plea entered. Essentially, it is an admission on the part of the prosecution that some aspect of its case against the defendant has fallen apart. Most of the time, prosecutors need a judge’s permission to “nol-pros” a case.

Sue this bastard Jack booted thug for a nice round amount, let's say 100 Million $ should do nicely. Then get a pernamant restraining order against this thug.

There is plenty of free speech in CONnecticut, just not for those repressive conservatives.

There's an appropriate time and place for everything. I was quite sympathetic to ministry when I read the article...which left me with impression that slogans & some sort of "Pro-Life" text was the "issue" the Police Officer had with the truck. However, I clicked on the article and eventually was directed to another link which showed a picture of was I assume is the actual truck (standard 13'cargo truck) completely covered by the image of a huge, bloody, presumably aborted baby.

Parked at an appropriate location (possibly clinic or pro-choice conference setting)possibly the outer edge of appropriate. Driving down a highway that a totally innocent, obviously pro-life Mothers travel with their minivans full of toddlers....that's NOT appropriate and my sympathies are now with the Officer. AND if I'd come across this "Truck" in the company of my child...I would be furious... I absolutely agree with the protection of "Innocents", but it's hard enough to do in this world without that type of thoughtless self righteousness...

And this comment relates to the specific situation not about my opinion on abortion. This truck could easily be covered by a tarp while on a public street and still be used for its horror in an appropriate location. And, if the "Right" to drive down the street with this image is argued as "Free Speech"...then look out for the Pornography Industry to use the same argument...or Janet Jackson to "dance" at the Super Bowl again...only naked.

Badge # + good lawyer = sue them into bankruptcy and or non-existence.

I'd be looking for a good lawyer, seems like there would be many chomping at the bit for a case like this.

I think it’s perfectly appropriate for toddlers to see what “pro-choice” mothers are really advocating – and I suspect they’d be horrified. I also suspect they’d be really happy that their mommy wasn’t one of “them.”

Having said that I’m not too upset either way. You want to fly your freak flag and attract attention, don’t get upset when you attract it.

Got a ticket for failure to yield to a pedestrian? BFD – contest it. Got arrested? BFD – plenty of people have and it’s not the end of the world.

I don’t know what it’s like in state/fed prison, but understand from relatives and acquaintances that do that it’s often considerably more structured and “simple” than county jail (and I DO have some past experience in that realm).

County jail is chaotic and constant activity. People going here and there, meeting with lawyers, going to court appearances – whatever. By the time you’re sentenced to prison most of that stuff is out of the way and you settle in (supposedly).

Anyway, “ooh – I got arrested” – BFD. May be intimidating the first time or even the second. If you want to pursue this line of work you’ll get over it. (Especially if that line of “work” includes things like lecturing police on your constitutional rights. You may win out, you may not – but you better make sure you have plenty of leisure time available because eventually I know where you’ll be spending it. And even then it’s not the end of the world. FWIW.)

I wonder if you would have oppose showing pictures of lynchings in Northern newspapers prior to the civil war?

Well you KNOW that ANY PRO-LIFE message in todays world is like holy water to a vampire. Pro-Death is the "acceptable " belief these days. (end days?)

No I would not oppose posting the pictures in a newspaper...in fact, the picture on that "Truck" should be presented in Newspapers. Would I oppose my toddler's Sunday School teacher bringing the newspaper in & showing it to my child unsolicited...yes. Do I object to sermons against abortion with my child sitting with me during the service...no.

I wonder if you can get $$ support for a suit from Landmark Legal or some of the other conservative legal groups?
