"In July of 2004, LLM's Truth Truck was pulled over by a Connecticut State Police Officer. This out-of-control Officer demanded that I immediately remove the pro-life messages that were displayed on the truck. He then proceeded to arrest my passenger, Michael Marcavage, charging him with two fabricated crimes. Then I was instructed to leave the State immediately or risk arrest myself."
And they tell me I'm too hard on the law enforcement profession. What a crock of sh**

There's an appropriate time and place for everything. I was quite sympathetic to ministry when I read the article...which left me with impression that slogans & some sort of "Pro-Life" text was the "issue" the Police Officer had with the truck. However, I clicked on the article and eventually was directed to another link which showed a picture of was I assume is the actual truck (standard 13'cargo truck) completely covered by the image of a huge, bloody, presumably aborted baby.
Parked at an appropriate location (possibly clinic or pro-choice conference setting)possibly the outer edge of appropriate. Driving down a highway that a totally innocent, obviously pro-life Mothers travel with their minivans full of toddlers....that's NOT appropriate and my sympathies are now with the Officer. AND if I'd come across this "Truck" in the company of my child...I would be furious... I absolutely agree with the protection of "Innocents", but it's hard enough to do in this world without that type of thoughtless self righteousness...
And this comment relates to the specific situation not about my opinion on abortion. This truck could easily be covered by a tarp while on a public street and still be used for its horror in an appropriate location. And, if the "Right" to drive down the street with this image is argued as "Free Speech"...then look out for the Pornography Industry to use the same argument...or Janet Jackson to "dance" at the Super Bowl again...only naked.

Badge # + good lawyer = sue them into bankruptcy and or non-existence.
I'd be looking for a good lawyer, seems like there would be many chomping at the bit for a case like this.

I am about as pro-life as one can get. It was the pro-life cause the woke me up to the leftist lies I had believed for years and which turned me from liberal to die-hard conservative. I support nearly all legal means to end the abortion holocaust. Check my posting history that goes back to the beginnings of Free Republic and you will see that I am unrestrained when it comes to advocating for the protection of the lives of the unborn and the condemnation of those who would kill or enable the killing of those innocent children.
That being said, I wish to first quote the words of the Lord as quoted in Matthew 18:
6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. 7 Woe unto the world because of offences for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!
How many children of pro-life parents, or just innocent children in general, have you offended in their innocence by the display you are using? When my children are old enough, I tell them about the evils of abortion. I don't need them to come across it in such a repulsive manner on the freeway or in a parking lot. I am protecting their innocence as long as I can.
Believe it or not, I've defended such displays at locations like abortion mills, etc. But the unrestrained display, such as yours, is not helpful and, in fact, it offends. I am not afraid of such images as I've seen so many of them and used them, where effective and appropriate, in the past.
I don't support the questionable actions of the law enforcement officers as you describe them. However, I understand the unease the officers felt in trying to determine if there was something they could do about your display before it offended more innocent children.
Really. Think about this. Pray about it. I support your activism as I am a pro-life activist myself. I even support your method as long as it is used appropriately. I just don't support your use of the display when you're not targetting a specific abortion clinic, Planned Parenthood site, pro-abortion conference, or whatever. I also don't think that you want to be the man causing the offence to the innocent little ones as Christ cautioned against. Those millstones can be rather heavy.
