Operation Spread the Truth (Day 3)(Fighting back against the Lib's Fib's)
11-13 | HHK R

Posted on 11/13/2005 9:09:10 AM PST by HHKrepublican_2

Earlier this week, President Bush launched his first round of response fire to the Democrats and Anti-War bafoons who have been attacking and trying to take down our commander in cheif, as well as dishonoring and attacking our troops. Fellow FReeper CharlesWayneCT and I had an idea...start a thread that would be reposted daily about "Spreading the Truth"

So far lots of you have signed up for Operation Spread the truth!...almost 40 of you. Lets get more!

Our Mission: To Expose the liberals and their lies, as well as inconsistencies via local media, e-mails, letters to the editors.

What we all know to be true here on FR is ignored and shut out by the MSM.

This thread will be a place for FReepers to co-ordinate call ins to radio stations, letters to editors, rallies, and any other way of Spreading the truth pertaining to the run up to and the Iraq War...

You will find letters to the editor already written, or you can write your own, we also suggest calling into radio stations. I've already sent out a wave of letters to local newspapers in Bergen County, NJ

Please ping anyone who you know might be interested.

I like your idea too, Operation Spread the Truth is more about Action outside FR while using FR as a base of organization. We figure we all know the Truth on FR so lets spread it!

All that needs to happen is Able Dangers' identifying Atta's plan become headlines and some coverage of Salman Pak, where Saddam trained terrorists how to steer, but not land, Boeing jets.

Why is this so difficult?

What causalties? Can you demonstrate that a young male American is more likely to be killed if he signs up today, than if he stays home? I sincerely doubt his chances are any different. There are 40 murders a month in Los Angeles and 50 a month in New York, alone. Why would Baghdad be any different?

The point is that our land forces are much smaller than they were in WW2 or Korea or Nam. So 80 dead a month is significant. Especially when combined with the wounded which run into the hundreds per month. It takes a lot of time and money to train one Soldier or Marine, it takes 1 hour to train a terrorist to fire an RPG or AK or pull a string.

They have a billion to recruit from and they don't have to pay them squat.

Now you say:
There are 40 murders a month in Los Angeles and 50 a month in New York, alone. Why would Baghdad be any different?

There are 14 million people in Los Angeles and New York, not the 140,000 American troops in Iraq. If we had 5 or 9 million troops in Iraq then our casualties would be on the same order as crime in these cities.

With KIA and WIA we are losing at the very least 200 a month. As our casualties climb our President's rating falls. Bush's 37 percent overall approval rating was two percentage points below his ranking in an October survey. Public opinion effects recruiting and recruiting is the only way to replace lost troops in a volunteer military. This is a war of attrition and it should not be.

Finally yes, your chances are much greater of getting killed in Iraq than staying home. 50 people in a population of 9 million is much smaller percentage than 80 people out of 140,000.

We need to use our advanced air power and other technological advantages as well as tactics. Instead we are being handcuffed by Vietnam type rules of engagement and a kinder gentler compassionate PC war fighting mentality.

As usual Mike is unable to use any argument or logic or facts. Just talking trash.

80 KIA is serious. When that continues to occur, now 4 out of 6 months, it does no good to close your eyes to the problem. The Presidents numbers are down because we have people out there trying to convince the public that 80 KIA/month is no problem, that hundreds of wounded a month is no problem.

Well it is. Why, because we are playing the same games we did in Nam......

Rules of engagement = like Nam.
.... Lately, the Marines say, cars probe the defenses, driving up to the post to see how far they can get before being shot at. "You're supposed to wave, throw a flash bang, say hi, make a baloney and cheese sandwich, shoot in front, shoot the tire, shoot the other tire, have some tea, shoot the engine, then shoot the windshield," says Aziz.
Now the Marines get a chance to ask an embedded U.S. reporter what's going on back home. "Do they think we're fighting a war?" Gladue asks. "We think we're fighting a war." The other Marines nod. Their next patrol moves out in an hour.

No, the loss rate per 100,000 pop in the US armed forces, and in the US male civilian population age 17 to 39, is the same. Not just on smaller pop, per 100,000.

Few of our wounded are lost to us. Most just return to duty. The force involved is much larger than that deployed at any one time, because they rotate through the theater. We can sustain this rate of casualties indefinitely. More, we can sustain this rate of casualties indefinitely without even noticing.

The terrorists most certainly do have to pay their men. They offer large cash incentives to conduct attacks and few would occur in Iraq without it. Nor do they have a billion to recruit from. Most Muslims are their enemies, as for example most of the population of Iraq.

I'm not suggesting kinder gentler anything, but you are the one who seems to think a hangnail is a ruinous rate of losses. We won wars in the past not merely through tech or razzle dazzle, but because we were tough enough as a nation to shrug off modest loss rates. We then inflicted vastly higher loss rates on our enemies. And we are not a small nation. Nobody can lose 20 to 1 against us and keep it up.

As for Bush, he isn't up for re-election, so the issue is moot. Besides, winning the war is a much bigger concern than the interest of one politician, or of one political party. You do not help by pretending continued lopsided success without any appreciable losses, is some sort of failure. It isn't.

They are winning. Let them.

Thanks for the reply.
But I have to say that I don't agree with your idea that its just as safe in Iraq for the US male civilian population age 17 to 39, as it is in America. IMO, there is no better way to lose votes for the GOP, than to spread that idea around.

We have lost over 20 thousand US Army Evacuations from Iraq --- http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/ops/iraq_casualties.htm

You believe the terrorists most certainly do have to pay their men. Where is the pay scale? Our costs for keeping troops in the field is at least hundreds of times more than the terrorists. That is a given.

You and many others might think that Nobody can lose 20 to 1 against us and keep it up. That sounds good but in Korea and Nam we killed them by the boatloads......

...said Marine Maj. Nicholas Visconti, 35, of Brookfield, Conn., who served in southern Iraq in 2003. ``But look at Vietnam. We killed millions, and they kept coming. It's a war of attrition. They're not trying to win. It's just like in Vietnam.

You state that "We won wars in the past not merely through tech or razzle dazzle, but because we were tough enough as a nation to shrug off modest loss rates." I'd like to ask you to consider Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Not even modest loss related to those two operations, and they ended the war with Japan. OTOH, we did not use all our weaponry in Korea and Nam and we did not win either.

Thats why the Tagline:

I want to win too. But the final product is not what I believe is worth the price we are paying in billions and Blood.
The Final Product...
-Another Oil Rich country with Islam as its official religion and
- a constitution that states "No law shall contradict Islam",
- a Shiite majority (62%) just like neighboring Iran (80%)
- two terrorist sanctuaries next door, Syria and Iran, which the Administration does nothing about.
- a supreme court that will be staffed with Experts in Islamic Law,
- a Prime Minister Jaafari, who wants to install Sharia Law, and sides with Iran.
- a President who states he will oppose any strike into Syria from Iraq by the USA.
- and thousands of American troops stuck in the middle of that.

We must attack Syria and Iran, destroy their regimes now. Then those governments will stop aiding the terrorists and the march of Islam may be stopped. Rolling it back is the next step.

Islam IS the enemy.
