NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Someone may have let the cat out of Wal-Mart's Black Friday bag early -- and it looks like the No. 1 retailer is ready to aggressively battle on prices in the weeks ahead by going very low on some hot products.
And here's what to expect: A Hewlett-Packard Pavilion ze2308wm notebook computer for $398; an HP Photosmart E317 digital camera for $98.88; a Lexmark all-in-one printer, scanner and copier for $39.88; and a 12-cup coffeemaker, food chopper or 2 qt. slow cooker for just $4.24.
Typically Wal-Mart (Research) and other retailers debut the eagerly awaited day-after-Thanksgiving specials a few days in advance. Wal-Mart hasn't officially debuted its Black Friday ads, but the information appears to have been leaked to a few Web sites.
"Last year, Wal-Mart didn't discount heavily on Black Friday and the first week after. What happened? Comparable sales fell 3 percent," said Marshal Cohen, chief retail analyst with market research firm NPD Group. "This year, Wal-Mart's making sure that it's not caught with pants down again. I'm shocked to see how low Wal-Mart is prepared to go this year."
The day after Thanksgiving is dubbed "Black Friday" because it's when retailers are said to finally move out of the red (representing losses) and into the black (profits). It also marks the start of the four-week shopping blitzkrieg leading up to Christmas.
Brad Olson, the founder of Gottadeal.com, a Web site that markets itself as the "official Black Friday deals site," told CNN/Money that he obtained Wal-Mart's Black Friday ad last week from "someone close to the production process for the ads."

They will have about 5 of each item, just a ploy to get you to come to the store. All the stores do it on Black Friday, then once you're there, they figure you'll buy something.

Then they don't me too well.
Brilliant. A way to out gun competing retailers and provide a new headline to counter bad publicity.
Last year they had a DVD player for $29.99, and pallets of them. I noticed they were selling them for $29.99 right up till Christmas.
I just bought a DVD recorder for $80 at Wal-Mart, and they must have had hundreds of them.
It seems like these things were over $1000 just a year ago.
The quality is better than my VCR and the content is much easier to manage.
This new 19" flat screen that I picked up the other day just went up. It was also the only one. So much for the roll back after me. You can back order anything.
Why does the left hate big business but loves big government?
Because in a socialist environment, you can't have independant businesses. With independance, you have choices that you can make. However, in order for socialism to survive, the government must dictate everything. Anyone dissenting must be eliminated.
That's what's so ironic about leftists claiming that they're "pro-choice." The only thing that they believe people should be allowed to choose is abortion. Everything else should be dictated to them.
Mark
That's if you haven't been trampled to death trying to get a 2 qt crockpot for $4.25.
I'm not sure if I need these - do they prevent Speeping, or contain Speepage if it occurs?
I'm going for the 20 qt. slow roaster and the 6.2" DVD player.
Things may have changed, but last year they spent the night stocking the hot items, then wrapped them in plastic and wouldn't let people buy any of the items until 6:00AM. They ran out most of those items that day, but they were still available ( they restocked ) until Christmas, at the same prices.
Considering that a bushel of soybeans is selling for over $5.00, these prices are incredible. Highly manufactured goods are selling for less than a bushel of an agricultural commodity?
What do you use a 2 quart slow cooker for unless you are a single on a diet?
