Just heard on MSNBC (Olberman) a quote from the Transit Director of NOLA that he didn't want poor people in the New NOLA. The business magazine publisher seemed to agree.

Well...that is very....elitist of them. And how do they plan to solve that little problem?
To: Mike Darancette
Calling them poor is a kindness, leeches on the public sugar titty is more like it...

There's a difference between poor people and the welfare entitlement types.
If he's talking about the lifetime welfare do-nothings, I don't blame him. Nobody wants them.
All they do is take, while contributing nothing to their communities.

And how do they plan to solve that little problem? Maybe they will have a Financial brown bag test.

The left wants the world to believe that conservatives want everyone to be poor. Conservatives realize that poor people are the most expensive segment of society so we really want them to be able to care for themselves.

So what just happened here? The Dems in LA did a Mariel boat lift on the rest of the country, a la Castro, and managed to blame Bush for it??

Well...that is very....elitist of them. And how do they plan to solve that little problemBy encouraging them to start over in other states that have good welfare programs where they will be safer and better off. - tom

If he doesn't want them back, who is he going to get to vote for them (the dems)?

I am praying that some of these people, who by their own admission have never been out of NO, will take this opportunity to see what the world has to offer them. I wish there was a way to set up mentoring programs.
There has been a such a brainwashing in poor communities around this country. I even think the GOP has been somewhat complacent in the past by not doing more to actually offer an alternative and instead buying into the conventional wisdom. We have the right ideas, we just need better missionaries, so to speak.
These people need real hope, not a bunch of empty promises of "we're from the government and we're here to help you." I am sick of people creating for themselves decades worth of power while doing less than NOTHING to actually change the situation. It makes me ANGRY.
To: Mike Darancette
I dont want the poor back either.
Lets use some of the damn money to teach these poor Americans how not to be poor anymore. How they dont need democrats to succeed in life. How they can do it for themselves. Something good could come out of this for some of these poor Americans. A chance to escape poverty forever.

I am hoping that many people who were discouraged and hopeless in N.O. will find new opportunities and hope in their new cities.
An example. Where I live, we do not have projects. We have section 8 housing (and I know TX. does too), which allows people to live wherever they want, with govt. subsidies if they are below certain income levels.
Seems to me that is a much better way to go. Living around normal people who make their own living I think would be an incentive to people who have always lived around lowlife types.

The dead of course, as usual. And because of Nagin, Blanco and other city and state incompetents, there are even more of the dead voters available.
Or Not.
