US and allies brace for weapons trafficking in high seas

It was a scenario straight out of a Tom Clancy spy novel.

The United States passed on intelligence to its allies that dangerous chemicals could be shipped from a Northeast Asian country to a port in the Arabian Gulf.

Japan sent out information that some ships fitting the profile of the suspect vessels had been monitored heading for their destination via the South China Sea and the Strait of Malacca.

Ten surface ships, six patrol aircraft and 2,000 personnel from 13 countries including the United States, Singapore, Australia, Japan, France and Britain participated in the five-day exercises.

An interesting exercise. I am sure that North Korea and its ally Red China understand the very thinly veiled message.

I searched and found some other articles on Deep Sabre:

According to the last article, the 13 countries were Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore, United Kingdom and the United States.
