This one has a license to kill and prefers its martinis shaken, not stirred...
PING!
If you want on or off the Mac Ping List, Freepmail me.
Use "Software Update" under the Apple Menu to automatically download and install...
I'm having the exact opposite problem, and I manage about 60 or 70 thousand machines. Give or take.
runs great....no problems on 2 Titanium PBs and 1 mirrored door desktop. : )
IF what you say is true, it is most likely a hardware problem... check the RAM for proper seating... and make sure the fans are all working.
Yes, check the ram. Particularly if you bought it third party.
I'd recommend using the safe method for system updates.
Our X-serve is pretty new online, but no crashes thus far...
Served by Miss MoneyPenny, no doubt!
I remember the PC days of Plug Pray, and this is as every bit as bad. Everything is APPLE, and the unreliability is pretty staggering.
On the other side of the fence, I got Windows to run really well on a Mac intel Machine.
Bought from Apple Store. Everything is APPLE.
Latest version is APPLE.
The "IF" is there because your experience seems to run counter to the vast majority of OSX Server users... at heart it is BSDFree UNIX and Apache. I have seen too many threads where anti-Mac people have posted FUD and untruths to take anyone at face value.
The day I left Windows was a great one. Thanks for the update heads-up.
Installed w/o a hitch.
It's nice to see at least a few other conservatives using Macs...as it is largely a liberal's computer.
Exactly WHAT "latest version"? If the crashing started when you added your wireless networking, then it must be causing the problem, remove it and see if the Server still crashes. Again, that would indicate a hardware glitch.
Yeah I thought the same thing, I don't really believe this guy uses a Mac, sure doesn't sound like it. Windows fanboy maybe? Sure he said he wouldn't be saying nice things about Vista either...but that sounds like a poor attempt to make his anti-mac comments valid.
I can back up swordmaker on this, so don't take the IF so personally. :)
Well EXCUSE me .. did you happen to work on the 9/11 commission? You seem to be interested in dealing with things that only coincide with your version of reality. My reality is that OS X (server) is extremely unreliable. I'll try re-imaging everything tomorrow and see if that helps otherwise, back to Cupertino it goes. Could be infant mortality, could be its designed to be this flakey. Either way, unless it works for me, its useless.
sounds like you may be down to a complete reinstall...
I've seen a lot of "I hate Microsoft threads" They are just plain silly. I can't compare the 2 Os-- they are so very different. There are certain tasks that I just prefer to do on a Mac, others on a PC. But that's just me. I really do have a problem with Mac OS X server-- it really is crashing. It really is unreliable. Now, I really have no complaints with the Mac workstations. Neither do I have a problem with the Xp workstations (Don't get me started on LongHorn). Even if I'm one of those .00001% of people (whatever the statistic) - its still an issue to me, because statistics ain't solving my problem.
