Immigration and Border Security Survey (Vanity with a purpose)
August 14, 2005 | Willyd

Posted on 08/14/2005 10:20:26 AM PDT by willyd

I am proposing to put together a questionaire with very specific questions related to Border Security and Immigration issues for distribution to all local, state and federal elected officials (with the expectation of a response) so that we can get all currently elected officials on the record about these issues. I would like to solicit the help of the Freeper community to suggest questions that should appear in this document. I will categorize the responses and post the final questionaire on here for any one who would like to send a copy to their local officials for a response.

are you willing to prosecute any and all law enforcement officials that knowingly let illegals go rather than deal with the paper work?

Speaking of vain here's my contribution.

The euphemism "guest worker" should be codified in law to replace the vile, evil, bigoted, xenophobic, nativist term "ILLEGAL immigrant" which is favored by heavily-armed, dangerous, trigger-happy, drooling, dim-witted, vile, evil, bigoted, xenophobic, nativist, single-issue vigilantes. After the "reform" the term "ILLEGAL immigrant" will be considered hate speech.

Choose A or B whichever is closest to how you feel:

A) The statement is not funny, if it was suppose to be funny; guest workers are needed to do jobs Americans won't do. I'm offended if the statement was suppose to be a slap at proponents. "ILLEGAL immigrant" should be considered hate speech, however.

B) Intended to be funny or not it says it all; to wit, anyone opposing "guest workers" is vilified. I'm offended by the maligners. "ILLEGAL immigrant" should not be considered hate speech

My questions are diretly pertinent to the federal government, and I think they are questions that should be seriously asked. The reason for this is I think the whole 'seal the border' stuff is just a total waste of time unless the government takes certain steps to 'tweak' certain aspects when it comes to border control.

For example, why in goodness name does the IRS hand out ITINs? ITINs stand for the 'Individual Taxpayer Identification Number,' which in essence is a number given to be who do not have, or are not eligible, for a social security number. And not only that, but they are issued without regard of immigration status. Oh, guess what else! One doesn't even have to show up to get an ITIN! And why does the IRS offer these numbers? So that the people who 'are not eligible for SSNumbers' can pay their taxes. Goodness, in applying for one a person doesn't even need to show a passport or visa. Just two documents, even foreign documents, for example a foreign driving license and a foreign ID card, in whcih case you can just send notarized copies through the mail (again you never need to show up). Who do you think utilizes ITINs?

Anyways, there is a lot of ranting about how Mexicans are sneaking across the broder and all that stuff. However I would say our governemnt is more complicit in that than they are. In a much longer post some weeks back I gave the analogy of a homeowner placing ads in the media about how much money he has laying around in his house. And then he leaves his door ajar, plus his windows wide open. And not only that, but he leaves soft-soled shoes at the foot of the door with instructions for thieves to wear them since they will enable them to walk quietly when they get in. And not only that but the homeowner even has instructions no the best way to get around the house so as to expedite things. Question: Who is more responsible? The thief or the homeowner? Well, both are responsible, but it could be argued that the homeowner is bringing this upon himself. In much the same way the whole border situation will never change unless the government tends to itself first. Both sides of congress generally do not want to do anything about it, business lobbyists do not want anything done about it, and the same rants you hear now are the same you will be hearing 15 years from now since nothing will be done. Unless government takes steps. Which you can be cash money they will not.

will you support legislation to put ankle bracelets on illegals that "promise" to return for their deportation hearing?

i agree with you whole heartedly spetsnatz. I think our government is very culpable in this whole thing. I don't blame some of them for trying to get in the easy way. When we are seeing Mexican military escorting packs of drug smugglers 25 miles inside our borders, I think we have a right to know what our government plans on doing about it.

Secretary Chertoff has testified before two Congressional committees that Congress must pass certain reform legislation to enable him to secure the borders against terrorists.

QUESTION: Are you with us or are you with the terrorists?

DeLay outlines steps to stem illegal immigration

House Majority Leader and U.S. Rep. Tom DeLay last week called for the use of all available technology to secure the U.S. borders before implementing a guest worker program.

"Before any legislation on guest worker program, we must secure our borders," DeLay
said.

---------------------------------------------------------

Hmm, I wonder if this means that Tom DeLay is with the terrorists.

Here is what I have come up with...let me know if you can think of any thing else to add.

20 Questions

1. What kind of legislation are you currently working on to increase your community’s ability to curb illegal immigration?
2. Which current laws are you going to repeal or revise this year to make it harder for illegal aliens to live anonymously in your community?
3. What legislation do you have planned for this year that will increase the penalties for hiring illegal aliens?
4. What plan do you have in place to ensure that identification and removal of illegal aliens in your community becomes or remains a high priority?
5. What are you doing specifically to ensure that federal organizations like ICE have all the information they need to properly carry out their jobs?
6. Are you committed to identifying and deporting the illegal aliens in your community?
7. Will you commit to lobbying the appropriate representatives to require proper, in person identification for ITIN applications?
8. What is your plan to work with federal officials to track down and deport individuals that don’t show up for their deportation hearings?
9. What is your plan to reimburse United States citizens in your community for the inflated premiums that they pay in health care and and automobile insurance to cover the uninsured illegal aliens in your community?
10. Are you for or against in state tuition for illegal aliens? If you are against, what are you going to do to ensure that $0 dollars go to fund college educations for illegal immigrants?
11. Are you willing to propose legislation (similar to the laws regarding the harboring of a fugitive) that makes it a crime to knowingly aid and abet an illegal alien?
12. Are you willing to participate in a meaningful way to advance legislation that would simplify the process to enter this country legally for the people that are really coming here to find a better life?
13. Are you willing to advance and pass legislation that all inhabitants of this country must provide a standard proof of identity (consisting of a valid driver’s license issued by one of the 50 states or a passport) to open a bank account?
14. Are you willing to repeal or discontinue any policies or laws that prevent law enforcement officers in your community from checking the national status of people that they stop in legitimate traffic stops or routine calls?
15. Are you willing to make local law enforcement accountable for knowingly turning a blind eye when they suspect someone might not be a legal citizen?
16. Do you have a plan to actively engage the legal minority communities for the purpose of educating them on the problem and soliciting their help in identifying people in their community that might be breaking the law?
17. Are you willing to lobby state and federal officials for more man power and electronic surveillance equipment on our borders?
18. What are the three most important things that you will accomplish in this area before your next election run?
19. Based on figures you have available to you, how many illegal aliens currently reside in your community?
20. Based on the figure that you just gave, how much do you pledge to reduce that number by before you are re-elected?
