The AP can spin this anyway they want, but Pirro is clearly a threat. Hitlery cannot afford to lose in 2006, and I have a feeling that she will withdraw rather than ruin her White House bid in 2008.

Please bring better news then 50% over 28%.

this isn't too bad. Pirro needs to run statewide TV ads right away to get some name recognition and introduce herself. what's her website, I'm sending money tomorrow.

Good news. Once Pirro gets out there and starts campaigning Hillary better watch out. This is going to be a great race!

I have a feeling that she will withdraw rather than ruin her White House bid in 2008. I agree, and have been saying that for at least a year now. If any opponent gets in the 43-47 per cent range, Hillary will go on a "national listening tour."

Dick Morris speculates that, if Pirro gets within 12 points of Hillary by the end of the year, Hillary will drop out of the race and pursue the Presidency.
He thinks even a close Senate seat win would weaken Hillary's chances for the White House, so she can't take that chance. And she can't afford to invest the $millions in a Senate race with the intention of keeping the seat only 2 years.
[I don't see that she has a choice. If she drops out after 1 Senate term, that would not give her the political experience the general public would want. That was one of the major negatives against Edwards.]

Looking at Pirro's website it seems to be high on 'political inclusion' images and her commendable work for children's safety.
I wonder what issues HRC will try to lead her to discussing.

*****A majority of New York voters, 56 percent of them, said they didn't know enough about Pirro to form an opinion about... *****
She isnt Hillary , What more do you need to know?
I'll give you a hint, Pirro will spend 6 years as Senator she wont start running for President the day after she is elected. You see if you elect Hillary you wont have a Senator for 2 years before the election, just like Mass. didnt have a Senator with Kerry he spent 2 years running for President.Took his pay illegally too.Of course IMO you dont have a Senator now.
Also you will have a real New York resident , not a carpetbagger.

Even if Hillary managed a win, the fact that she had a real run for the money in New York would doom her presidential run. I think you're right, she's too smart to run for the senate again and risk losing it all.
She'll claim she's not running because she wouldn't want to cheat the people of New York.

Her "lead"??? Didn't she just announce this week?

Pirro can make Hillary look sluggish and inept. She is sharp and she can come up with answers quickly. If Hillary does want to run for presidency, then she likely will withdraw.

Hillary is up to her cankles in Pirronha already. And it's early! Nibble away, Jeanine. She CAN be brought down.

Pirro is a world class RINO. Pirro is nothing more than Hillery Lite. Pirro is anti-gun, pro-abortion, pro-affirmative action, anti-death penalty, pro-gay marriage, the list goes on and on. I almost sort of suspect that Pirro's candidacy is being funded/driven by the clinton people.

I was looking forward to Rice slapping Hillary around. It looks like Pirro will beat her to it. She will close quickly and Hillary will drop out.
Hopefully Hillary will be the Dem nominee for Potus-she would get crushed. I have no idea why FReepers are afraid of her. She sounds like the Aflac duck.

That's an amazing drop in that it shows people are willing to listen to a competitor for HRC's job. Now she has a year to convince voters she's the better choice.
This really is amazing news. Imagine Kennedy getting only 50% support the day a challenger announces. Doesn't mean Pirro will win, of course, but it indicates the ice is cracking and she CAN win.

Withdraw..Hillary? In our dreams..:)
