one rabid pro-abort or another, does it really matter?

If we were electing delegates to a convention that had abortion as the only item on the agendum, no. Otherwise it matters very much.

do you think the babies scheduled for slaughter today, tomorrow, and in the future give a damn about the differences between two people who would refuse to "stay" their execution?

No. But NO ONE in the Senate is going to help them. We might as well elect someone who we can agree with otherwise. It's Pirro or Hillary, there's no other possibility.

If she doesn't say, "you know" every other word and do the stupid phony laugh, she'll be a better debater than the Hill gal.

It's the same in Massachusetts

We've been electing RINOs for 20+ years in the Governors Mansion, and its been a good thing. The state is moving closer to the center, and thats better than Extremely Liberal

Maybe Pirro is better than a real conservative who would go nowhere and Hillary would dominate

Well, given the fact that since Pirro is in, the general election will be between her and Hillary!...period. As despicable as abortion is, there is a choice to be made for New Yorkers.

Assuming you live in NY, if your conscience won't let you vote for Pirro, so be it. However, it is better to have a pro-choice Pirro voting in the Senate than a thinly-veiled socialist in Hillary!.

Pirro can probably cripple Hillary, but probably not stop her....if pundits today are to be believed.

But, she'll give Hillary a run for her money.

Up til now Hillary thought winning re-election would be a cakewalk.

Now she's going to have to use some of that money she was saving to run for President.

Great assessment. The point in NY isn't to replace Hillary with a Rick Santorum--the point is replacing Hillary. Would we like to dump her and replace her with a conservative? Sure, but it ain't gonna happen, so forget it. I've hear Pirro is great on taxes, so right there she's better than HRC, and in the process we kneecap HRC's run for President.

Even if Pirro were 100% in agreement with HRC on the issues, she'd be worth voting for because she's NOT HRC.

The point should be to neutralize HRC; anything beynod that is gravy.

You are right.

Even if Pirro does not win (IMHO she has a good chance to win), but does better than Hillary's first Senate opponent, it would not look good for Hillary's presidential ambitions.

Maybe Hillary would even withdraw - in honest debates she is no match for Pirro - and concentrate on her presidential campaign. Win or lose, Pirro can damage Hillary's national image.

If Janice Rogers Brown was nominated for SCOTUS in 2007, I would expect Pirro to vote NO and Hillary to filibuster. That could make the difference on getting JRB through. We don't need more votes in the Senate; we just need to stop filibusters.

one rabid pro-abort or another, does it really matter? I'll be doing my best to encourage fellow NYers to vote for "none of the above" ...

Which will guarantee Clinton another term and a senatorial soapbox from which she can run for POTUS. No thanks. I'll vote for Pirro and pray for her soul.

Yup, Romney et al may not be perfect, but look at the alternatives. Once you stop trembling, it's clear that a RINO is better than a liberal. It's not a philosophically pure choice, but we've never had one, in my memory, at least. We've gone from Dukakis to RINOs--I'll take that over Dukakis and more Dukakoids.

It's called dealing with reality and not living in a fantasy world where the choice is between a liberal or a conservative.

Abortion was legal in NY state before Roe v. Wade...even if the SCOTUS overturned Roe it would be legal in NY and many other states...Pirro will at the very least undermine Hillary's ability to avoid the issues due to her gender...whenever Lazio got close to landing a blow the media painted him as a bully...they could pull the gentleman card on him...I'd love to see Pirro take off the gloves and knock Hillary's block off...metaphorically, of course...I think it will be delightful watching Hillary squirm...no more avoiding media/ public scrutiny...this will definitely be a pass-the-popcorn race.

the Senate isn't going to touch the abortion issue in any sense. If Roe is overturned, the states get it back.
