I can't do Krauthammer explanation justice, but he breaks down the different groups and how they approach foreign policy, and why...Scowcroft was mentioned by name in the article...which helped me, because I was confused why he was so negative to Dubya, when he worked for his Dad...

Oh, I know that Berger doesn't have a position in the Adminstration, but the fact that the Justice Dept. didn't go harder after him, with more than a slap on the wrist,
IS giving him a break.....IMHO

The prosecutor is in the bag for the Democrats. The sentence recommendation was laughable and the judge saw this pretty easily. Apprently, the prosecutor stumbled upon a judge with integrity. When the day for Burglar's sentencing came, the judge basically said "no dice" and put sentencing off for awhile. It ain't over yet. I think there's some horse-trading going on.
