It has long been said -- even in the capital's post-September 11 environment -- that the most dangerous place to be in Washington is between Sen. Charles Schumer and a camera. Yet, even by his remarkable standard of chutzpah, Mr. Schumer outdid himself at Wednesday's press conference. The eminent UCLA law professor Eugene Volokh, in his essay, "Yiddish & the Law," observes that the classic definition of chutzpah is itself taken from the law: Chutzpah is when the man who kills his parents begs for mercy because he's an orphan.

It seems to me that anything over a teaspoon of water will put it over Chuckie's head. He's such a dork.

And if Mr.Roberts had 20 years of judgeship can you imagine how long his confirmation hearing would go on as the demorats would microscope every decision he ever made?

Rush is right - chutzpah doesn't play well out of NY. People from the red states just think it's rude to be pushy.
When Chuck gets in front of the mike, and pushes, people from, say, Kansas, think he is obnoxious. I say give him more air time.

Roberts should refuse to turn over the requested documents, on the grounds that Chuck the Schuck's demands are fulsome.
The more I think about it, the more I'm starting to suspect that Ann Coulter's column questioning the Roberts nomination was triangulation. Notice that she never once said that Roberts isn't a judicial strict constructionist, nor did she actually come out against him. The column is carefully worded to express worries about him without ever really opposing him on any substantive grounds.
