Two arrested after target practice

PORTLAND - Gunfire in a remote part of Multnomah County has sent up red flags at the sheriff's department.

Deputies say Abdullah Shabbaz and a man who calls himself Yassin Abdurahman were shooting assault rifles on Larch Mountain over the weekend. Deputies gave both tickets for trespassing, bt now they've gotten the attention of federal law enforcement.

Officers say they had a duffle bag sitting next to them loaded up with semi-automatic assault rifles, handguns, clips and a gas mask.

Federal agents would not say if they're investigating further.

The two suspects were ticketed for trespassing, and lying to officers. Abdurmahan also had a warrant out for a drug charge.

a note in passing: a semiautomatic rifle CANNOT be an "assault rifle" - the lockwork and action is different

Abdurmahan also had a warrant out for a drug charge.

Drug prohibition laws at work, funding terrorism, for you.

Abdullah Shabbaz and Yassin Abdurahman?

I am shocked, shocked I say, that CAIR has not complained about racial profiling.

Sounds far too similar to the Portland Seven of a couple of years ago.

Abdullah Shabbaz ?

He should've Americanized it to something like Abdullah Bubba Shabbaz.

Kidding aside, the press thinks anything firing ball amunition with gunpowder is an "assault weapon."

a semiautomatic rifle CANNOT be an "assault rifle"

Sure it can, a gun doesn't have to be fully automatic to qualify as an "assault rifle".
