Democrat's Great Escape

Posted on 05/24/2005 5:03:35 AM PDT by ShelleyAa

The Great Escape

Democrats today can wipe the sweat off their brows, thanks to a small group of RHINO Republicans (Republicans In Name Only). Be assured, neither Media Elite nor their party with “honesty” in hand will speak of this near-death-experience, but in truth they were going down due to their own actions or lack there of. Most understand that Democrats last hope, with loss after loss at the ballot box, is to control the judiciary, allowing only liberal, ideologically activist judges on the bench. Without votes needed, a saving-of-face, the survival of the do-nothing, obstructionist’s party were given another day, with the last minute agreement made to prevent the Constitutional Option from occurring. The real question needing an answer, will they embrace the gift of new life or will they continue in their blind, prejudice manner.

With this gift given, where do we find our nation after nearly four years of filibuster and hate-filled speech? What will this deal with the devil bring America? Are we back to square one, which has sustained us for over 200 years, our President is allowed to nominate well-qualified jurists, the Senate is to advise and consent, culminating in an up or down vote? Time will tell. However, as a Christian Conservative who has experienced great prejudice from the Democrat Party towards my kind, I personally hold little hope in seeing this party act in good faith.

Most assuredly, good may come from this experience, for those few RHINO that boldly dealt with mischief, most may not have as good fortune in survival within their own party. Loyalty to party members that include Christian and conservatives will remember the life preserver sent to the sinking Democrats and only the faint look sent their way as placed overboard by vicious words and actions by the same Democrats they are so willing to resuscitate.

Make no mistake, this was a great escape for the Democrat Party, now let us see “real” loyalty appreciated. Be reminded; the devil is in the details.

The Republican in me wants to say shame on you spineless RHINOS. The analyst in me, however is intrigued. Wondering whether or not the DEMS could successfully pull off a filibuster now? That is, they are voting on the three most contentious candidates first with an agreement to allow an up or down vote. How do they then come in later with any credibility at all by calling nominees of lesser controversy EXTREME?

That being the case, maybe the DEMS lost this battle after all, despite the appearance of caving on our part? Thoughts????????

There's always a possibility that the Dumbocrats will keep to their word & if they do - in the long run - we score a minor victory in getting the 3 an up or down vote.

But judging from how pissed off the Dumbs are over at DU, they certainly see it as a loss, no matter how Dingy Harry tries to spin it.

The problem always is, they don't keep their word. I think the RHINOS were played for fools.

So when are the votes? They ought to follow this deal up with the votes asap before the rats can twist and spin and crawfish their way out of it.

I believe in the end the Dems will be the losers. It always seems as if they have won the battle, but the war which is really won at the ballot box, has appeared as of late to go to the GOP.

I also believe that McCain will never be the GOP nominee because of this action.

Yes, I hope this finally puts McPain-in-the-ass in his place, but I doubt it. It'll take a stake or a silver bullet to do that.

The rats agreement is simply the terms of a retreat. They only get what they would have gotten had they voted for cloture. They would have retained the right to filibuster another day.

Why did 7 GOP join them in giving them cover? I suppose the answers are many. Some probably want to look moderate, some may have common interests on other issues, some may not have srong conservative bases as voters.

Gee, how do you compromise the 'Constitution' in a back room deal with 12 Senators? Talk about minority rule.

Please voters of Arizona, deliver us from McCain. How much more damage will you allow him to commit? I wouldn't be surprised, if the Democrats in Arizona nominated him for their candidate for Senator.

On a personal note, the guy's a creep and has always been a creep. It's only become more obvious the more he's on tv. Rush Captain Queeg parody of McCain nails his character.

The less liberal Democrat Senators were between the rock and the hard place. Vote cloture and face party wrath or support filibuster and face humiliation. The Republicans were looking at continued bitter Democrat obstruction after detonation. The Democrats were allowed to escape with some dignity and it is doubtful that all the dems will stick with Dear Leader Reid the next time.

Maybe, but I'm going to reserve judgment until I see the results of the actual votes. I won't be surprised if McCain and his fellow RINO's agreed to vote 'NO' as part of the deal.

I pray for a call from a Republican fund raiser so I can say, "no way will I continue to contribute to the Turncoat Republican Party". Yesterday Hillary Rodham Clinton was elected President of the United States by default. Third party candidates will divide the 08 Republican vote with no chance for a conservative candidate win.....and I also PRAY that I am wrong !!!
