A gun-control group and its political action committee have paid a $12,000 fine to settle a campaign finance case from the 2000 election.
At issue were ads and endorsements by the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence and its Brady Voter Education Fund involving various Democratic candidates in 2000.
The American Conservative Union, in a complaint with the Federal Election Commission, accused the Brady organizations of making illegal corporate contributions to the Democrats' campaigns.
The FEC disclosed the outcome of the case Thursday.
=====
The Brady Campaign is named after Jim Brady and his wife Sarah. Jim Brady, press secretary to President Reagan, was shot during a 1981 assassination attempt on Reagan. The Bradys later became gun-control activists.

It's great news but if I read the dates right it took FIVE YEARS. That's one election back. Shouldn't justice be a little more swift and sure where elections are concerned? If it takes that long to prosecute them maybe the Brady Bunch will think it's still worth doing?---Again?

This is great but I wish it had been 12 million. The only way to stop the anti-Bill of Rights crowd is to take away their financing.

Good point. However I *think* the make up of the board is 6R's, 6Commies ..oops D's. That may have contributing factor for gum in their gears. The fine should've been double the contribution, and, henceforth disallowed from future contributions to any political party *in the world*. Shutting down the backalley channels through Soros groups etc.

This is nothing. I live in the Los Angeles area and used to work with a pro-gun advocate who set up a PAC. Things were going fine until he drew the attention of our (rabidly democratic) state government. They tried to fine him for not filing some forms and he tried to fight it. In the end he lost everything (several hundred thousand dollars). It can be dangerous being an activist in California if your cause is unpopular with the liberal state government.

I hate to be negative, but 12 thousand dollars penalty to these people has them laughing all the way to their piggie bank to cough up the chump change.
Had you read the documents you would have seen that Brady paid out over a million bucks to his candidates campaign, and Handgun Control paid at least 1.2 million to their buddies.
12K is just the cost of doing business to these guys, and it doesn't even count as a criminal conviction. They are free to, and probably have already, continue contribute again and again and again...

This is good news, but Sarah Brady has prostituted herself and her husband for millions of dollars. Oh well, this is a victory and I'll definitely take it!

I'm with you. 12 thousand? Common. These Democrats spend 12 thousand dollars buying a couple of new suits and getting their hair cut.12 million and a couple of years in jail would have been much more appropriate.

12,000 may be chump change to these thugs, but I bet the lawyers bills were at least 10 times that amount.
Plus the scales may fall from the eyes of a few more sheeple who will realize that the Bradys don't play by the rules.

Geeze..
Here's your tagline:
Roses are red, so are the 'rats
Roses smell good, 'rats don't.
or...........
Roses are red, pansies are sometimes pink
Pub's need a spine, and Ted needs a drink.
or............
Roses are red, voters are blue
We thought DC listened, but just not to you.
See, this is why I have a cut rate on taglines. ;)
