Polls Push Governor To The Border (Liberal LAT Bashes Arnold On Illegal Immigration Alert)
Los Angeles Times ^ | 04/30/05 | Robert Salladay

Posted on 04/30/2005 12:22:03 AM PDT by goldstategop

Speaking to reporters, Schwarzenegger on Friday likened the armed Minuteman group that has roamed the Arizona-Mexico border looking for illegal immigrants to a "neighborhood patrol" that has succeeded where the government failed. A day earlier, he called their work "fantastic" and chastised the Bush administration for failing to secure the border.

Schwarzenegger also had said Thursday that a Spanish-language billboard characterizing Los Angeles as a Mexican city was "divisive," a comment echoed by conservative groups. Last week, the governor said the U.S. should "close the borders" — a remark his staff said was imprecise and for which he later apologized.

The governor outraged Latino activists and his Democratic opponents with his comments, but he was treading an often effective path, analysts said. Republicans have used California's permeable border as political fodder for years. And Schwarzenegger was elected in 2003 after demanding that people in the state illegally not be issued driver's licenses.

"It wasn't just Republicans who were upset that [former Gov.] Gray Davis signed a bill granting licenses to illegal immigrants," said Elizabeth Garrett, director of the USC-Caltech Center for the Study of Law and Politics.

The Democrats and Open Borders Lobby activists are outraged by the Governator's stand against illegal immigration? Good - for now we know who is out of step with mainstream Californians. The Liberal Los Angeles Times insinuates Arnold is a racist on the issue by quoting Democrat Art Torres' insincere me-too protests he's not words to that effect. I expected no less of them. People here have enough of illegal immigrants.

And the L.A. Times continues to lose circulation.

Wonder why? Obviously, the dummies haven't figured it out. Let 'em rant. Fewer and fewer people care.

They've cried wolf too many times. Apparently everybody who doesn't support the Reconquista is a racist. Nobody believes their Mcarthyistic name-calling anymore.

More on Arnold's comments on John & Ken (you won't find this in the LAT) Show. See if you agree he's right:

Look, they've cut down the crossing of illegal immigrants by a huge percentage," Schwarzenegger told KFI-AM's "The John & Ken Show" on Thursday. According to Newsday, the Republican governor accused the federal government of failing to control the border and said it encouraged illicit crossers by giving them access to water. "The whole system is set up to really invite people to come in here illegally, and that has to stop," he said.

Amen, Governator! Now if only we could get El Presidente Jorge W. Bush to admit the "whole system is set up to really invite people to come in here illegally and that has to stop." Common sense you won't find anywhere in today's LAT's account.

Of course, Arnold is correct. I'll bet that 90% of the people who work for the Times secretly agree with him, as well. But when you work in a liberal ghetto, you have to maintain at least the aura of being a respectable, non-'racist', open-borders, let's-all-hold-hands-and-sing-Kum-Ba-Yah, anti-Republican, blue-state type. I'd like to see any of these jerks have a band of 80 illegals move in next door! (Gasp)

A side note: If in 2008 a democrat gets in--put aside whatever we may think a republican will do--what might that democrat do about the border with Mexico?

They'll do whatever Darth Soros tells them to.

1. Arnold has flip flopped before. It will be interesting to see how his position "evolves" as we get closer to 2006.

2. Does anyone have a photo of the KCRA billboard? I'd like it for my collection.

3. Here in San Francisco we have a radio station that bill itself as "La Raza" and has billboards on BART trains and Muni buses. I wonder what people would react if some Midwestern polka station were to bill itself as "Das Folk"?

We'll see if Arnold stays firm with this issue or not. However, if he does, I'm sure he will win widespread support over this, despite what the lamestream media and the racist leftiest say.

From what I have read about the L.A. Times, they are racist against all who are not Latino.

The Minute Man Project put a lie to the oft stated, "you can't do anything about illegal immigration so it's best for everyone to just not try".

Thanks.

It's an interesting picture. The Angel of Independence statue is a focus of nationalism and symbol revolution in Mexico. Here it is transposed into the very center of the LA skyline. I wonder what they could mean by that, symbolically speaking?

So is there a boycott of Clear Channel in the offing? It's their billboard.

News articles attribute the billboard to Liberman Broadcasting. How did you come up with Clear Channel?

http://www.whittierdailynews.com/Stories/0,1413,207~12026~2839954,00.html

Officials from KRCA-TV Channel 62, a Spanish-language station responsible for the billboards, said that 6.8 million Latinos, mostly with ties to Mexico, live in Los Angeles and are their targeted audience.

"No one is promoting illegal immigration. Everyone has to obey the laws," said Leonard Liberman, executive vice president of Burbank-based Liberman Broadcasting, which owns 16 Spanish-language radio stations and four television stations nationwide.

Liberman said the stations want audience members to feel at ease at home.

Clear Channel owns the billboard. It says "Clear Channel", right at the top.

Liberman owns the station but Clear Channel is profiting from promoting it.

Will EVERYBODY please stop falling into the liberal trap, they are INVADERS, not "immigrants"!

"Immigrants" soft soaps the problem, as we are "a nation of immigrants".
Immigrants enter the U.S. via legal channels, Invaders do not.

"Invaders" has the correct associations, making the necessary connection to illegal activity.
Since the illegal invaders are here to plunder our economy, and to send their loot back to Mex., while also altering our politics, INVADERS , LOOTERS and SEDITIONIST are the only accurate words to describe them.

If their plight is really so grim, let them have a revolution to fix it, as WE did!
If they are not willing to fight for their rights at home they have no right to claim any sort of rights via invading us!
