The Schindlers' Train
LA Times ^ | 4/1/05 | OP-ED

Terri Schiavo's parents turned her death into a three-ring circus. We don't question their love for their daughter and their grief at her passing, but one has to wonder why they allowed everyone from Randall Terry to Tom DeLay to Jesse Jackson to intrude into their family's tragedy. Robert and Mary Schindler did not protest as fringe right-to-life groups exploited their daughter's image. They generated a sad, made-for-cable-TV spectacle and fed it with edited video footage from their daughter's hospice bed and sinister accusations about Michael Schiavo.

In the last few days, the Schindlers also agreed to allow some of their dubious allies to cash in on their daughter's brain damage. The Schindlers agreed to allow a conservative direct-marketing firm to sell lists of those who had sent them money. In exchange, donations would be solicited for the family's battle, according to news reports. The Schindlers' own foundation also solicited credit-card donations for their cause on the Internet, though until a few weeks ago it was not legally registered to do so and had not reported its donations.

A group of conservative foundations has contributed, according to some reports, hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Schindlers' vain effort to keep their uncomprehending daughter's feeding tube from being removed. ...

How about, they were desperate for the world to get the sole decision-making away from MS and Greer.

Funny the Slimes didn't think of that. It occurred to me.

That's it, Kinsley. Blame the evil parents for not just standing aside and letting their daughter dehydrate to death over two weeks.

I would have done the exact same thing as the Schindler did for their daughter for one of my sons. God help me if that ever was to happen! God bless the Schindlers!

"...their uncomprehending daughter's..."

So since she could not comprehend legal arguments she should be face death by dehydration. She may not have been able to comprehend the Times but I believe she could feel pain, love, and America's betrayal.

The LA Times is simply vile. Why do people subscribe to this rag? They must have good pizza coupons.

"Terri Schiavo's parents turned her death into a three-ring circus."

The MEDIA turned her death into a three-ring circus. Most notably the Stupid Los Angeles Slime.

"but one has to wonder why they allowed everyone from Randall Terry to Tom DeLay to Jesse Jackson to intrude into their family's tragedy".

Could it be because they were desperate for someone to help their daughter! It's not that hard to comprehend.

Too many heartless people reporting the news.

Anyone in the Schindler's position would do anything possible to save a loved one. Unfortunately the deck was stacked against them here by a heartless judge and a HINO's vendetta against the family.

Good point - I just get so annoyed that the most obvious things have to be explained to idiots - of course I mean the LASlimes' readers - that I just have to sound off.

:)

Actually they've lost nearly 40% of their readership since the Arnie fiasco. People called in droves cancelling subscriptions. Now they cater only to the left. I get my news here.

Ah, the LA Times trying to spin the bad press for the Rats' Pro-Murder position. WHY did friends and supporters join Terri's parents? BECAUSE they were ignored by the liberal MSM and the demi-god judges.

"The self-adulating Schindlers and their harassment of poor Michael are to blame!"

Hollywood casting alert! Can a Show Time movie about the selfless grieving widower and his warped right-wing in-laws be more than a few weeks away?

The editorial staff of the LA Times serves as living proof that the truly brain-dead can always find work in the MSM.
