WELCOME LAURA INGRAHAM LISTENERS: Info on Fayetteville, NC Support Our Troops Rally Here
Link to Original Announcement ^ | Tuesday, March 15, 2005 | Kristinn

Posted on 03/15/2005 7:02:42 AM PST by kristinn

This Saturday, March 19 in Fayetteville, North Carolina, the Old North State Chapter of Free Republic is holding a rally to support our troops.

The rally will serve as a counter-demonstration of a so-called antiwar rally being held that same day in Fayetteville.

This small town in North Carolina is being targeted by the anti-American left because it is the home of Fort Bragg. The leftists are trying to undermine the morale of military families and the soldiers stationed there.

Freepers will be holding a peaceful, law-abiding demonstration in support for our troops and their mission fighting the war on terrorism in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere.

The rally will begin around 11 a.m. on the high ground across from Rowan Park in Fayetteville. It will end around 4 p.m.

Please bring American and service flags, as well as signs bearing messages of support for our troops and their mission. Local rules limit the size of signs to 2 feet by 2 feet.

More info can be found here.

We have been stuck with her for years here in S.Fla. She finally got kicked out of Miami and went to W.P Bch.(home of the supreme wackos except Rush) where she screeches and shouts and spins new lies about us all the time. She Seldom has documentation for any of her rabid claims.

Sad that we have to hold pro-military demonstrations outside a major military base just to counter the left's disgusting behavior.

The Fayetteville Police are raising funds to buy phone cards for wounded vets at Walter Reed Hospital. We will be collecting donations for this and forwarding the proceeds to the police dept.. Y'all are invited to drop a dollar into the jar on Saturday.

The lefties will also be collecting for the phone cards, but I'm willing to bet that even if they outnumbered us twenty to one, we'd collect more than them (since they will think it's a lot to put a quarter in a jar).

Perhaps we should issue a challenge...

"Here she is at the RNC with he whose name shall not be mentioned."

One positive aspect is that HE looks NOTHING like his father. Evidently, he lacks the moral clarity that embodied his father.

However, maybe their is hope for the lad. His father was head of the screen actors gild at one time...then he went from liberal to conservative in a big way. The rest is a wonderful history! I miss that Great American!

BTW - The Anti-war are going to exploit the deaths of our soldiers with a mock graveyard in a park here in Everett, Washington. Here is the story:

I'll bet you have a local chapter of "Veterans For Peace". And does this phone card drive of theirs have something to do with them canvassing the hospital to win over the hearts and minds of the wounded? Anyway, I hope you guys far surpass the anti-war goons.

Here in the Seattle area, we are disgraced by Chapter 92 of Veterans for Peace, which I call "Veterans For Appeasement". One chapter member told me he frequently visits wounded vets at a local hospital. I get a sense he is on a mission to brainwash them while acting like he really cares about them. Let's hope he fails to fool any of our troops! Especially while they are in a vulnerable position laying in a hospital bed. What nerve they have!

Aren't there going to be a few different groups present? How do FReepers know themselves from everyone else?

Oh, I think you'll be able to tell the difference. :)

Here's directions from I-95, if you're West of Fayetteville, use the "Directions To Fayetteville" link below:

FROM I-95:
In North Carolina, get off at I-95 Exit 56 and take
BUSINESS I-95/US 301 into Fayetteville. Take that for about
5 miles.

Turn RIGHT onto SR-210/SR-24. Take that for about 1.5
miles.

Continue on SR-24 (BEAR RIGHT) for about 0.1 mile.

Turn LEFT of Rowan St, Rowan Park ahead on left.

CAREFUL ABOUT THE ABOVE MAP, THAT'S BUSINESS I-95, NOT THE MAIN ROAD FOR I-95.

"The very next caller was Doug from Upland who discussed Ramsey Clarke as the face of the Democratic Party and how MoveOn.org claimed that they bought and own the Dem Party.

Ramsey Clarke may well be the face of the Democratic Party, but George Soros funds both MoveOn.org and ANSWER and most probably Code Pink. George Soros is King of Bush Bashers like Media Matters…Duncan Black the infamous “Atrios” of or at the contemptible Eschaton web site….and as some wag noted… “Soros is a human Halliburton whose network of companies, organizations and foundations actually makes the real Halliburton look like a Mom & Pop operation. No one really knows where the Soros money comes from because he operates behind a financial "hedge fund" that is based offshore.”

Know your enemies – George Soros, John & Terrriiiiiisa Kerry…they think OBL is swell!

Ft. Bragg will be a great success, Ill be there in spirit.

Do you want to help make it a success? You and all other FReepers can really help make our efforts successful.

We can rout the anti-war movement in the battle for public opinion if more FReepers would show up and peacefully counter the leftists at many of the locations across the country. Step on their media oxygen hoses, so to speak.

The leftists will be at over a hundred locations this weekend. If at all possible, try to counter-protest the leftists in person. It's much more fun than watching them on TV. I've included New Mexico locations in a thread excerpt below, but one can click on that thread to find a location near you.

The troops are fighting over there. Absent a health reason, an unchangable work or family obligation, or home really too far away from any event to drive to it, a serious patriot has an obligation to try to counter these leftists in person.

We can't afford to repeat the mistakes of the Vietnam homefront public relations battle, when conservatives were too timid to counter-protest the leftists. The public relations battle at home was lost. The sacrifices of our Vietnam troops had achieved victory in Vietnam, but the Communists won because leftists went largely unchallenged on the streets of America.

Yoe, I don't direct this to you because you may have a valid reason not to counter the leftists in person, but how many conservatives, how many FReepers are going to say, "it's too much trouble to counter the leftists" and then drive 70 miles to go to a ball game? Or stay at home and watch the NCAAs?

For those FReepers who can't FReep the leftists, or even for those who are willing to show up and be counted in person, please consider writing letters to the editors of your local papers supporting the liberation of Iraq, supporting the troops, supporting the President, or opposing the protests. For example, you might point out that:

The lead group behind the anti-war protests, International ANSWER are self-admitted traitors. Their website includes the statement that "the anti-war movement here and around the world must give its unconditional support to the Iraqi anti-colonial resistance" (last page of 4 page ANSWER brochure at ANSWER website here: http://www.answerla.org/pdf/iraq/iraqresist.pdf). ANSWER's leaders are not anti-war. They just support the side fighting America. They support the people blowing up our troops in Iraq, intentionally killing innocent Iraqi civilians, and beheading American civilians.

Here is a thread on that subject with some tips for those who are able and willing to leave the safety of their keyboards and try to make a difference in the real world:

[UPDATED FROM AN EARLIER POST. LEFTISTS ARE TIMING THESE TO THE SECOND ANNIVERSARY OF THE START OF OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM. ALL EVENTS ARE ON SATURDAY, MARCH 19 EXCEPT WHERE NOTED. I've reformatted, left out some irrelevant info, and added emphasis. I will post rally info from another leftist group below on this thread. Check relevant leftist websites in case their plans change.]

[snip] =====

WHAT YOU CAN DO: Organize a counter-protest of the anti-war protestors emphasizing support for our country, our troops, and our President. Alternately, organize a "support the troops" rally to take place on the same day and in the same city as the anti-war rally nearest you. Or, attend a counter-protest or support troops rally already being held.*

The troops are fighting over there. Surely, you can give up a day or two of your free time to organize, support, and attend a rally to counter the hate-America first crowd.

HOW: Some suggestions:

Call the local police and ask about requirements for permits, restrictions on protest sign size and materials, and other laws involved in protests. In many locations, no permit is needed if you are going to be under a given number such as 25 people.

Plan an event. If possible, try to get a location across the street from the leftists or otherwise close, but not too close, to them. Try to have some barrier such as a street, hedge, or fence between them and your group IF you think it's necessary to control interaction between the groups and the police are unlikely to be deployed in numbers between the groups.

Publicize the event by starting a thread about your local Rally/Counter-protest.  Contact other FReepers in your area by pinging them to the thread and using the state message boards. (Click here, then on an appropriate state message board. From there, you can locate some adjacent FReepers by clicking on the "[New Prototype -- Click for Members List].")  Contact local veterans' organizations, GOP groups (especially College Republicans), Young Americans for Freedom, and all other groups (e.g., Second Amendment groups) that are likely to support our side.

Send out press releases to local media and contact local talk show hosts, especially conservative ones, who may be willing to promote, attend or speak at the event.

Make sure that all of your people know that the point is not to interfere with anyone else's rights, but to emphasize support for the troops and their mission. Give out or at least publicize rules for protesting such as DC Chapter's rules for protesting, especially if you have a few who might be overly zealous:

No violence, no threats, no profanity, no racism, no law-breaking.

Law enforcement officers must be treated with respect.

Stay out of the street at all times, except when using a crosswalk with the traffic light.

Do not block the sidewalk to pedestrian traffic. Keep your signs from hanging over into the street.

Do not block the signs of, nor get within 10 feet of, our opponents. Do not interfere with any media coverage of them. Our First Amendment rights are their rights, too.

Any arguments should be at 10 feet away to avoid conflict arising from passions on both sides. If you choose to get close to them physically, do so in friendship as fellow Americans only.

Do not give the middle finger, call people jerks, tell them to go home or get a job.

Take the high road. Be civil, but resolute, when you are cursed at or given the middle finger; point out the rudeness of the leftists by chanting, "Mean spirited arrogant condescending liberal."

Bring lots of American flags.

Have fun.

WHY: What good does a rally or counter-protest do?

Gets out a message to our troops that we support them.

Allows you to peacefully express your point of view. Much better than kicking in your TV when the leftists come on.

Upsets the leftists and demoralizes some of them. Prevents them from getting a free ride in the media.
