A gay rights group has filed discrimination charges against Romania's TAROM airline after the company allegedly excluded gays from a Valentine's day discount offer for lovers.
The state-owned firm offered travel discounts during February to couples travelling together, but the offer excluded gays, said Florin Buhuceanu, from Accept, Romania's main gay rights group. Mr Buhuceanu said he tried to purchase tickets for himself and his partner for a two-for-one offer, but was told that people of the same sex did not qualify.
He said his organisation filed charges against TAROM with Romania's anti-discrimination board which would discuss the case today.
Homosexuality was a crime in Romania until 2001 when the government removed the offence from the penal code to comply with demands from the EU which Romania hopes to join in 2007.
The EU overrides national laws, of course. Another reason it should be dumped.
Neither homosexuality nor other forms of mental illness should be considered a crime. But no government, in this case via a "state-owned firm", should pretend that homosexuality is normal.
If I am not mistaken St.Valentine -for whom the day and
traditions are named was a Roman Catholic. And as homosexual
love is (as well it ought be) not recognized as equal to
normal love by the Catholic church(or any Christian church)
then clearly these demented or destructive activists and any Court that gives them credence are comparing unlike
items and confusing the two-which is NOT logical.I would throw the case and th epetitioners out on their bloody Arse.
