A regular feature in the first half-hour of Fox & Friends Weekend is the "Long & the Short of It" segment, in which liberal Ellen Ratner debates conservative Jim Pinkerton.
After viewing the just-completed segment, the question arises as to whether the "short" refers to Ratner's stature or, as would appear more likely, to the fact that she is short on brains.
For this ultimate Kool-Aid drinker of a Dem just proclaimed "Hillary is a conservative Democrat. Too conservative for my taste. I'm a liberal Democrat, she's a conservative one. Nevertheless, she will be the next President of the United States."
Juliet Huddy, to her credit, asked "has she always been a conservative Dem or is this something new?", in reference to Hillary's blatant attempts to reposition herself.
Pinkerton got in a good dig at his diminutive colleague: "you could roll the video of Ellen predicting that Dean would get the nomination and that Kerry would win the election, so you can see what Ellen's predictions are worth." Pinkerton agreed that Hillary was likely to get the nomination but thought she'd have a much tougher time winning the general election.
By the way, not only do I consider Ratner a fool, but in this case at least, a liar as well. I don't believe for a second that Ratner believes Hillary to be a "conservative Democrat." Ratner's tears over Hillary's supposed conservatism are of the entirely crocodilian variety.
Ratner's little performance is all part of an effort on behalf of Hillary's Democratic claque to help her reposition herself. They will describe her as a moderate or conservative, and express disappointment that she is not more liberal, while supporting her candidacy. All this in an attempt to dupe unsuspecting voters into believing that Hillary has changed her liberal stripes.
Does anyone believe for a second that Ratner et. al have forgotten good old liberal Hillary, the feminist firebrand out of Wellesley and Yale Law, she of the attempted nationalization of 1/7th of the national economy (health care), the Hillary of the radical Children's Defense Fund, the "Hillary Rodham" of Bill's first terrm in Arkansas? Please.
Fox & Friends "Conservative Hillary" ping to the Today Show ping list.
ellen RATner is about as relevant as old chewing gum.
A case of the dems and MSM attemping to reinvent Hillary. I guess they figure if the start now, they just may tell the lie often enough that people will believe it.
"Does anyone believe for a second that Ratner et. al have forgotten good old liberal Hillary,..."
Just in case they have, we'll be sure to remind them. Apparently they keep forgetting that there's an internet, too.
Ellen who?
Run Hillary Run
Well put.
Beware the Pajamahadeen, Hillary, for they are legion, and their Google search bars are poised.
Ratner thought Traitor Kerry a "war hero" and predicted he would be president. If America gives little consideration to the truth about Hillary Rodham-Stalin, she will be president.
Remember how Nna Burleigh famously, or infamously, offered to give Bubba a BJ because he protected her right to have an abortion? Well, can't wait for some feminazi to offer HIllary the equivalent benefit..
Not only a liberal democrat but a totalitarian to boot!
Apparently they think we are all stupid and have no memory. Hillary is a leftists in disguise, and we all know it.
Ratner's simply lying to help position Hillary as a centrist.
Thanks for the excellent summary and analysis, governs.
LOL. What a whopper.
Interesting that you and 'Mr. Marple' had the same take that I did. I have a feeling this is going to become a theme: Dems crying crocodile tears over Hillary's "conservatism," Republicans exposing it for the fraud it is.
Thanks, RB, my pleasure.
I must say that of all the liberal talking heads, Ellen Ratner is among my least favorites because, rather than bringing anything orginal to the table, she is the consummate talking-points regurgitator.
When HC comes out and tries to CENTER herself on abortion that's all you have to know about what she's trying to do.
It works for her husband, it will NOT work for her!
And it figgers that the Dems would swipe a page out of Hilter's playbook. Wasn't it Hitler who said something along the lines of the masses will more easily fall victim to a big lie rather than a small one?
Saw it and heard it. I expect we will hear this a lot. "Hillary is a little too conservative for me, but she will make a good president". The truth would be that she is pretending to be too conservative, wink wink!!
