"To do this, she says, it is my “duty to clear the planet... "

You may start with yourself !

Geez, these are sure Very Old Aliens. Lets make them eligible for Social Security and then they're be beholding to the politicians and we could exercise some degree on control over them. Could it be that this Lib wants to limit their potential eligibility for S.S.?
Could these be considered illegal aliens?

Hard hitting questions Rabble. Sounds like a job for Chris Matthews. About his speed, temperment and intellectual depth ("Argh-Body Thetans in My Head!).

My mother's best high school friend went in for it early on....in the beginning days...mid to late 60s I think.

Absolutely completely whacked out. Ironically, her dad had been an Army Chaplain.

The lady left her husband and two children and went to all these compounds. Serial and Group Sex, brainwashing, and above all...give them your money.

This was pretty wild stuff back then.

I just noticed that she and her daughter who followed her later always had a hard stare when they talked to you....like they wanted to look through you.

The son and the dad were wiser and rejected it all outright.

The lady and daughter are slaves to this day. Scientology is for nuts....the only positive PR they ever got was for drug treatment in the early 70s.

Too bad a better SF writer didn't invent a religion..lol

What a disappointment that movie was! Joe Dante should have been the man to capture the spirit of the Looney Tunes with his background in LT inspired films (the Gremlins movies, Innerspace) and the film just missed the mark by a country mile.

People think she's beautiful? I'm ugly and I've dated better looking women that her. Look at those choppers--I think she meant "clear the planet of underbrush". Blech!

As usual, you cut to the heart of the matter. Blech indeed.

"Because Karl Rove won't let them!"

Do you think rove is 'body thetan'? He does have a peculiar body type. I think he's wearing custom suits to disguise the fact that he has tentacles like a squid sprouting from his torso. If that's the case he should just get back into his spacecraft and go.

funny Elfman took hubbie's name.....ironically traditional or maybe she wanted Hollywood to think she was Jewish....lol

I wonder if her husband is kin to Danny Oingo Boingo Elfman who does lots of scores and soundtracks now?

Dante is talented but man does he have crappy taste in scripts. Who cares about this junk he makes? For awhile there he was gonna make a new version of The Sea Wolf and I was thinking he was going to break through into more adventurous material for his talents.

Looney Tunes BIA will be known to me forever as the final film score by the late, awesomely great Jerry Goldsmith, and nothing else.

Greta is one. She and her hubby.

A friend of mine joined these whackjobs years ago. He's 50 now and has nothing. What a waste.

Coppola, Spielberg, Scorsese

I'll grant you Scorcese. Coppola didin't do Viet Nam veterans any favors with "Gardens of Stone" or "Apocalypse Now" (there was heroism and honor in Viet Nam- just not for the filth in Hollywood) . Spielberg is a big-time lib Dem supporter, including Boxer and both Clintons. Judge a man (and his intelligence) by the company he keeps.

That is such a sad story.
I used to live in Dunedin, FL...just north of Clearwater.
They were based in Clearwater at that time.
But, I don't know if they still are.
I would see those guys and gals in the black pants and
white shirts, and cringe.
They definitely had a vacant look on their faces.
It was like the light is out, and nobody is home.

It really is a sad thing

Oh, Spielberg is a real prize. And while we're talking about directors how's about the great history re-writin' Oliver Stone. Those directors in Hollywood.....they sure are .....uhmmm....well I guess they're wealthy.

"She and her sister had joined in order to go to the so-called acting school. She escaped but her sister is too scared to leave."

yeah, I had a friend who got suckered into the 'acting class.' She got out fortunatly, but these malevolent creeps had her phone number and called her up for years after. I read a book by hubbard's estranged son who gave a good explaination of what a sham the whole thing is. One of they're earliest recruiting theories was that you had to find young people whose parents had recently died, then befriend them under false pretenses and then slowly start feeding them the space alien nonsense.

'Apocalypse Now' is one of my favorite films of all time. It's not really about Vietnam. I see something new in that movie each time I see it. I judge a man by his work. Spielberg is a consumate God gifted film maker. He's also raised countless millions for WW2 vets and Holocaust survivors.

The Scientologists have a headquarters (world headquarters?) in Clearwater, Florida. You can see these glassy-eyed true believers walking around downtown in their hip little uniforms. My friend refers to them as "the Clearwater Navy." I attended a poetry reading in the building many years ago (before I knew it was the nest for these space cadets). They were very careful to keep outsiders from wandering through certain doors. There was definitely a weird vibe in that building.

One of the tricks that scientologists used to pull (maybe they still do) is to set up a phony 'acting school.'

I don't know WHAT's happened in NYC lately but suddenly the Scientologists are being allowed to set up in the subway and are giving out phony "stress tests."

Ping to a couple of folks who might be able to verify this. What's going on all of a sudden with these wackos?

"Why are the gorgeous ones always completely nuts? "

Because not enough real men told them where to go once in a while.
