Kerry Hedges on Form 180

Sen. John Kerry reiterated his pledge on Monday to sign the form that would allow the government to release all his military records, but said he wanted to know exactly what was in his file before doing so.

"I have a stack of different material they sent me," Kerry told radio host Don Imus. "Every time they send me something I want to know what they sent me."

"I'll get it done," Kerry insisted in the next breath.

Last week the 2008 presidential hopeful suggested he wanted to review his full Navy file to make sure of "what is in the record and what isn't in the record" before signing Form 180.

"I'm going to sit down with them and make sure that they are clear and I am clear as to what is in the record and what isn't in the record and we'll put it out," he told "Meet the Press" host Tim Russert.

Kerry did not explain his reference to "what isn't in the record," though questions arose late in the campaign about why he received his honorable discharge six years after leaving the service.

Pressed earlier today on when he intended to sign Form 180, Kerry said only, "Shortly."

The full exchange went like this:

IMUS: You also told Tim that you would sign Form 180 releasing all of your military records. Have you done that?

KERRY: Yeah. We're gonna do that. Absolutely, I will. But listen, I also think . . .

IMUS: When are you going to do that?

KERRY: As soon as I get, as required by the military, precisely . . .

IMUS: Why don't you do it today?

KERRY; Because I have a stack of different material they sent me. Every time they send me something I want to know what they sent me. I'll get it done. . . .

IMUS: By noon today?

KERRY: No. But shortly. [END OF EXCERPT]

Q) Why does the US Senate allow a traitor access
to top secret US intelligence data
BUT does not have access to the traitors
FULL military records?
What do US Senators know about Form 180
and why Hanoi Kerry won't sign it?

Actually it is Christmas 1968 when Kerry was in Vietnam. I was already home by then, having left in November 1968 and having spent just two weeks shy of one year in country.

I think Kerry has someone at the records repository that is working on cleaning up the record that is there. It could get lost which is plausible and likely considering the furor being brought out for him to sign the SF 180. There was a fire in 1973 at the St. Louis Records Facility but Kerry's record would not have been there, especially when his DD214 was beginning to show a DC or a General Discharge.

The US Senate HAS his records, all of them!

He could not get a top secret clearance without his records.

The US Senate is behind the coverup!

"More than likely, he will try to have negative items removed prior to signing a SF 180. Hopefully, someone within DOD will leak it if Kerry tries some behind the scenes nonsense."

I agree with that 100%. The SwiftVets crippled Kerry's campaign and he still wouldn't sign, that makes it obvious there is something that smells in his records, but Kerry never expected the SwiftVets would mount such a powerful campaign of their own so he never 'cleaned things up' before his campaign.

Kerry, IMO wants to run again, he knows this time he has to neutralize the SwiftVets and the only way to do that is to sign 180, so he must believe that he has a 'Sandy Berger' somewhere to clean things up before he signs.

I don't believe Kerry is stupid enough (I may be wrong ;-) ) to think that everyone is going to forget that he publicly said he would sign 180 or he would never have said "yes", he would have just given his usual evasive answers. Kerry may have actually asked Russert to bring up 180 in order to get this done 'early' before the next elections so that 'time' can muddle things a bit if not all the dirt can be neatly cleaned away.

Hey, I know you!

You are a war criminal who took part
in Operation Bold Mariner, Feb '69 like me!

We could have been a hero like the Honorable Senator Kerry!

Ain't the US Senators great!

Really glad he didn't get elected. We want to make sure that if sKerry ever goes over to the Navy archives to examine his records that he is closely watched and thoroughly searched before he is allowed to leave. Don't want him pulling a Sandy Berger and destroying evidence of his BCD.

"If theses guys had pursued this during the campaign the election wouldn't even have been close.
Of course, we know why they didn't..."

And we know why they are going after him now:
1. To try to regain some crediblity and,
2. To clear the way for Billary.

People should be prosecuted for the TANG fraud at CBS.
Hope Gonzo has the cohones.

I retired from the Air Force in 1985 and I received my field-level personnel records at that time. So far they have never sent me anything except for a retirement check each month, a periodic notification when my retirement pay changes and a 1099-R at the end of each tax year.

I basically agree with your analysis. The SF 180 issue won't go away, so it has to be finessed. Jerry Corsi has said he will run against Kerry in Massachusetts in 2008. If that happens, the SF 180 will be part of the Senate campaign. The SWBFT have said that they will reform if Kerry runs again for President.

Kerry will have a problem with the first PH. Kerry never released the casualty report or the after action report, both required for a PH. In addition, there may be other damaging information on his activities with the VVAW, including at least two meetings with the Vietnamese Communists in Paris, while still a member of the inactive naval reserve subject to recall. Kerry knows what is in his file, now he has to figure out how to deal with it. Regardless, the nomination is Hillary's if she wants it. Kerry will fade away.

Kerry Hedges on Form 180

Oh, am I surprized? NOT

No tin foil hats but I honestly think he has someone "inside" that was supposed to remove negative info and sKerry needs to make sure it was done before signing the 180. Just MHO.

I sent this question to Snowe AND Collins. Even if I get no answer, at least they will know that the general public DOES know about FnKerry!

And if THEY are hiding anything, we will find out about THAT too!

Kerry is not going to voluntarily do anything, but at least a couple of MSN types have finally asked him to in public and on the record. We should put pressure on those guys to foolow through. Here's the email I sent to Meet to Press ( mtp@nbc.com ) and I'll send the same message to Imus:

We're wondering if Tim Russert can salvage that pathetic and extremely ill timed interview with John Kerry last week by following up on Kerry's statement that he will sign the Form 180?

Or will you let your credibility go the way of Mr. Kerry's?
