Sen. John Kerry reiterated his pledge on Monday to sign the form that would allow the government to release all his military records, but said he wanted to know exactly what was in his file before doing so.
"I have a stack of different material they sent me," Kerry told radio host Don Imus. "Every time they send me something I want to know what they sent me."
"I'll get it done," Kerry insisted in the next breath.
Last week the 2008 presidential hopeful suggested he wanted to review his full Navy file to make sure of "what is in the record and what isn't in the record" before signing Form 180.
"I'm going to sit down with them and make sure that they are clear and I am clear as to what is in the record and what isn't in the record and we'll put it out," he told "Meet the Press" host Tim Russert.
Kerry did not explain his reference to "what isn't in the record," though questions arose late in the campaign about why he received his honorable discharge six years after leaving the service.
Pressed earlier today on when he intended to sign Form 180, Kerry said only, "Shortly."
The full exchange went like this:
IMUS: You also told Tim that you would sign Form 180 releasing all of your military records. Have you done that?
KERRY: Yeah. We're gonna do that. Absolutely, I will. But listen, I also think . . .
IMUS: When are you going to do that?
KERRY: As soon as I get, as required by the military, precisely . . .
IMUS: Why don't you do it today?
KERRY; Because I have a stack of different material they sent me. Every time they send me something I want to know what they sent me. I'll get it done. . . .
IMUS: By noon today?
KERRY: No. But shortly. [END OF EXCERPT]
What he really meant was: "I'll get it done as soon as hell freezes over."
Won't do it.
Denny Crane: "There are two places to find the truth. First God and then Fox News."
PING
There will have to come a time when they stop sending him things. Will Kerry sign it then?
Gee, I'm so surprised. Everyone knows how frank and forthcoming Lieutenant Kerry is. . .right? Right? < cough>
of course he won't. But we all knew that the minute he told Tim Russert he would. Just what the heck does he mean, "they send me a stack of papers"...this is crap. It is real simple, you sign the 180..the military releases your records. He just wants to go thru them all and make sure we only see what he wants us to see....again.
Right! He'll geter done, when like you say happens. Lying traitors SOS that he is.
Is the Senator going to TELL the Navy what "is" in the record?
Does it again depend on the definition of "is"?
Exactly
...this just makes the Swift Boat Veterans...look better and better......
"I will sign Form 180 as soon as Sandy Berger finishes reviewing the file to determine what's in there and what's no longer in there."
It's a good thing Kerry wasn't elected.
All the terrorists would have to do is send him a form 180 and the entire executive branch would be paralyzed.
Like I said he'll sign it as soon as hell freezes over
Don't hold your breath.

Just tells me that there is a fish in the wood pile. If there was nothing in the files that smelled - he'd a signed the form when the Swifties were on his butt.
What the heck does that mean?
Do they send him unsolicited stuff all the time? That sure is what that sounds like to me.
Credit to Immus for pursuing this diddler. This fake, phony, fraud.
No, Kerry, the 180 isn't so you can put out the material; the Form 1-8-0 is so that 3rd party observers can access the complete record and judge for themselves what is in there and what isn't.
Hey, hey, ho, ho; Kerry: sign the one-eight-oh!
"Sen. John Kerry reiterated his pledge on Monday to sign the form that would allow the government to release all his military records, but said he wanted to know exactly what was in his file before doing so."
rotfl.......he knows what should be in there and is trying to make sure every trace of it has been successfully purged before he releases it!
Dumbkoff thinks that we're all going to forget about it and the issue will go away. I think it should be mentioned every time he shows his ugly mug on TV.
And - ahem - as another poster above so rightly said -- Kerry is going to tell the NAVY what's in his record? Oh, this is gonna be good.
If he keeps getting asked about the Form 180, watch for Kerry to drop his ass off the radar for about six months.
Do you think he'd take that long signing a withdrawal slip from Terayza's bank account?
Publisher's Clearing House? Cheese of the Month Club? The Fidel Castro Fan Club? Who on God's Green Earth is sending John Kerry ANYTHING at this point?
One word comes to mind: "NEVER!"
=======
Geez, where's your compassion?
Shouldn't it be "NEEEEEVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVER"? ;-))
The real question is why they never asked him about this before the election. Now, all of a sudden, they realize it's important.
Has anyone (except at DU) really expected Hanoi John to release his records?
No, what he really meant was: "I'll get it done as I scrub all the incriminating evidence out of the official record."
Is the Senator going to TELL the Navy what "is" in the record?
Oh yeah, this is a SHOCKER!!
""I'm going to sit down with them and make sure that they are clear and I am clear as to what is in the record and what isn't in the record and we'll put it out,""
There is the out. He will jsut say he isn't signing because it is not complete.
Yes, but...
-PJ
I got out in 1976 after 8 years, haven't heard from
military records since.
Never.
Actually the "out" is that nobody on Earth gives a rat's rump about John Kerry, so long as he's nowhere near the presidency.
Does John Kerry know that it's February?
...of 2005?!?
I got out 37 years ago, and I'm still waiting for them to send me "something".
That's what I thought.
Thanks
How do we know that some RAT in the military, will not erase forever some information kerry does not want out?
Translated into english, this means that he has not yet figured out a way to classify portions of his record in order to hide the facts.
Once he finds all the material that might be controversial, he will attempt to have it redacted and then sign the release.
This guy is such a turd.
What he really meant was: "As soon as I can pull my weight and get some things removed, changed, and falsified on my records, I'll release them."
You got it.
I gotta buy some stock in "White Out"
It's in his will.
Translation: Kerry wants to see what is in his record before signing authorization to allow others to receive the information. Signing an SF 180 means that others can receive the contents of Kerry's military files without Kerry acting as a filter or intermediary. I suspect that he knows what is in the records. More than likely, he will try to have negative items removed prior to signing a SF 180. Hopefully, someone within DOD will leak it if Kerry tries some behind the scenes nonsense.
Personally, I want to see the documentation surrounding his first PH. He has never released an after action report or casualty report for this award.
I heard there is a guy down in Texas that makes(err has) copies of military records from back then, maybe he has the sKerry ones (grin)
Hilarious! I thought the same thing.
