Gun control bills at the Virginia General Assembly usually enjoy the fate of a wounded quail in hunting season.
Its only a matter of time til death comes calling.
Bills piled already on this years dust heap include proposals to ban guns in libraries and day-care centers and to close a glaring loophole in gun-show regulation. A companion bill to the latter still lives in the House, but surely not for long.

The bill about the ABC licenses is just a back-door attempt to reinforce the restaurant ban in Virginia. It's patron is one of the more strident gun control advocates in the General Assembly.

I think the glaring hole is in the authors head.
Gun control bills? We need more criminal control bills.
We defeated rhe Brittish, we went over seas and defeated the "Barbarians" on the Libyan coast, we did WWI and WWII and every God Forsaken land that ever lived...
^ Billion, we need to thin the herd.
As Charlton Heston would say, "From my cold dead hands..."
VCDL Ping.
My dear editorialists.....if there WERE such a thing as a gun show "loophole", why not do a hidden camera expose? Go to a gun show & buy a pistol or three w/o a permit, after all it's easy with the loophole, no? You could say "because of the loophole, we were able to purchase ALL THESE GUNS".
You know why you and the rest of the MSM don't? BECAUSE YOU CAN'T
And, if you could, you would waste no time in doing so.
BTW, love the scare tactic at the begining of your screed.....Its only a matter of time til death comes calling That statement pretty much sums up the very reason why I carry a concealed weapon.
Actually, one of the liberal-left TV reporters around here tried that a few years ago. They sent someone into a gunshow I was at to try to buy a gun illegally. The dealer called security who then called the police. I was at the next table when this happened.
The "reporter" came running in to get the dope released. After some conversation between the reporter and the police, the police released him. The loudspeaker at the gunshow told everyone in the show to look at the people walking out since they tried to break the law. It is unfortunate, (really, really unfortunate) that the police did not prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law.
And, I am sure that made it to the airwaves? They still went ahead with the story????
I wonder how often these state legislators get accused (and rightly so)of violating their oath of office, that is, to "protect and defend the Constitutions" of their respective states and of the U.S.when they advocate gun control measures which "infringe" on the citizen's right to "keep and bear..."?
Of course they never aired it. I watched, but there was no mention of it.
Something like that happened here in the NY/CT metro area. A local paper wanted to see if they could get weapons aboard a plane. They tried 5 different times, and were "caught" each time.
Rather than show that they could not do it, they dropped the entire story. Geez, talk about doing a story with a preconceived ending.
What's truly ironic is that, if they manage to close this "loophole" they'll actually be creating one (private sales at gun shows vs. private sales not at gun shows), and they'll whine incessantly to close that one.
Yup. Banning private sales at gun shows would be an "important first step" for the anti-gunners.
Best never to let them take that step.
