Biblical-giants book soars up charts

A unique book that purports to explain the past existence of giant beings referred to in the Bible as the Nephilim is skyrocketing up online best-sellers lists, now appearing in the top 15 at Amazon.com.

Published by Xulon Press, "The Nephilim and the Pyramid of the Apocalypse" presents an explanation for an unusual verse in the first book of the Bible, Genesis 6:4, which reads: "There were giants (Nephilim) in the Earth in those days, and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men and they bare children to them."

The book's author, Patrick Heron, says on his website that his is the only first in-depth book to throw light on the mysterious Nephilim and "to provide evidence of who built the pyramids of Egypt and Mexico and other great monuments of ancient history."

In the introduction of the hot-selling work, Heron delves into the history of the pyramids and other fascinating structures that have proven "astronomical significance" – facts that have been written about before.

In Heron's book, however, he goes to the questions of who built the structures, how they acquired such mathematical and astronomical knowledge, and what advanced technology was used in the construction.

Writes Heron: "To simply say, 'The Egyptians built them,' is not a satisfactory answer. For if man began at the stone age, progressed to the bronze and then to the iron age, then we have the oldest pyramids popping up somewhere between the stone age and the bronze age. This is akin to saying that at some point in time past, man invented the wheel. Sometime later, another made a cart. But in between the wheel and the cart we find a brand new Mercedes! This is a realistic comparison when considering the construction of the pyramids.

"Despite all the recent books written about them, the pyramids remain a conundrum wrapped in an enigma and surrounded by a paradox. Yes, these authors have discovered and charted their astronomical significance. They have unearthed their geometric alignments and mathematical accuracies. And the conclusion they have reached is that some lost civilization or race of advanced people were responsible for these mammoth edifices."

In the first part of his book, Heron answers the questions of who the architects were, where they came from, where they acquired their mathematical and astronomical knowledge, how they possessed the strength to construct these huge structures, why they chose the pyramid shape, why the pyramids align with celestial bodies and where theses mysterious over-achievers went.

"In the second part of this book," writes Heron, "I have shown how these same age-old pyramids portend a future event. Analyzing again the ancient texts, I will provide an examination of the prophecies of the book of Revelation and of the signs we are told would precede these imminent happenings. In doing so we shall garner the necessary details and information whereby the reader will be able to audition the future."

Finally, Heron says, his book proposes "a phenomenon never before proposed or explored –The Pyramid of The Apocalypse."

Heron's book begins with an analysis of the mathematical phenomena surrounding the pyramids – for example, the fact that the Hebrew cubit is 25.025 inches and the length of each side of the Great Pyramid at the base is 365.2422 cubits, the exact number of days in the solar year, including the extra day for each leap year. He also points out how four long, narrow passageways in the pyramid point to specific stars in the sky and that ancient monuments in Mexico and Cambodia have similar celestial connections to the same four stars.

Next, Heron takes the reader to the Genesis text that talks of the "sons of God," citing other uses of the term in the Bible. He says the term is comparable to the mention of angels, whom Heron says should more accurately be called "agents" or "messengers."

Heron then goes back to Genesis 6, citing verse 2: "The sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all that they chose."

Writes Heron: "What this verse is implying is that these 'sons of God,' who were created spirit beings, had intercourse with ordinary human women and produced children. But these were no ordinary offspring."

The result of the unions, Heron says, were the Nephilim, Hebrew for giants, that are mentioned in verse 4. The fathers, also are referred to as Nephilim, which also means "the fallen ones." The author says the fathers were malevolent spirits, or demons.

The Nephilim, then, were "a hybrid of demons and men. They were evil and wicked by nature and could not be rehabilitated and made good, for the evil was in their genes."

Heron, a Christian author who lives in Ireland, believes the spirit beings hooked up with earthly women twice, once before the Great Flood, hence the Genesis passage, and later after the Flood. One biblical citation he mentions is in the book of Numbers, when the 12 Hebrew spies scout out the Promised Land and report back about giants who inhabited the land. These giants and others, Heron writes, actually practiced genetic engineering, citing the fact that it took two spies to carry back one cluster of grapes on a staff between them.

Perhaps the most famous biblical Nephilim was Goliath, the man who stood over 13 feet tall and was slain by shepherd boy David.

While an analysis of the Nephilim and even pointing to them as architects of the mysterious structures is not unprecedented, Heron breaks new ground in his discussion of future events and how the Nephilim's pyramids related to them.

Heron believes the pyramid design by the Nephilim was a rip-off of the shape of the "City of God" talked about in Revelation, which is said to have a square base with each side approximately 1,400 miles long.

Writes Heron: "I have become convinced that the pyramidal shape is a demonic exercise in counterfeit design, for I believe that the pyramid is a paradigm of the City of God which is at present in the heavens and which was seen and described by John in chapter 21 of the Apocalypse. …

"Some biblical scholars have suggested that this city has been created in the shape of a cube. I believe that it is in the form of a pyramid, and I believe also that the reason the Pyramid of Giza and the other ancient pyramids were built was to copy the heavenly city of Yahweh, the Holy City which is right now in the heavens. This is what I mean by the term 'Pyramid of the Apocalypse.'"

Heron says the earthly pyramids were Satan's attempt, via the Nephilim, to try to exalt himself and imitated God.

"Only an exalted celestial being could have masterminded the pyramids of that ancient epoch. Only a being or beings with such knowledge of the stars could have accomplished such things."

'Hobbit' joins human family tree
Scientists have discovered a new and tiny species of human that lived in Indonesia at the same time our own ancestors were colonising the world.
The one-metre- (3ft) tall species - dubbed "the Hobbit" - lived on Flores Island until at least 12,000 years ago.
The fact that little people feature in the legends of modern Flores islanders suggests we might have to take tales of Leprechauns and Yeti more seriously.
Details of the sensational find are described in the journal Nature.
Australian archaeologists unearthed the bones while digging at a site called Liang Bua, one of numerous limestone caves on Flores.
The remains of the partial skeleton were found at a depth of 5.9m (19ft). At first, the researchers thought it was the body of a child. But further investigation revealed otherwise.
Wear on the teeth and growth lines on the skull confirm it was an adult. Features of the pelvis identify it as female and a leg bone confirms that it walked upright like we do.
"When we got the dates back from the skeleton and we found out how young it was, one anthropologist working with us said it must be wrong because it had so many archaic [primitive] traits," said co-discoverer Mike Morwood, associate professor of archaeology at the University of New England, Australia.
King of the swingers?
The 18,000-year-old specimen, known as Liang Bua 1 or LB1, has been assigned to a new species called Homo floresiensis. It had long arms and a skull the size of a large grapefruit.
The researchers have since found remains belonging to six other individuals from the same species.
LB1 shared its island with a golden retriever-sized rat, giant tortoises and huge lizards - including Komodo dragons - and a pony-sized dwarf elephant called Stegodon which the Hobbits probably hunted.
Chris Stringer, head of human origins at London's Natural History Museum, said the long arms were an intriguing feature and might even suggest H. floresiensis spent much of its time in the trees.
"We don't know this. But if there were Komodo dragons about you might want to be up in the trees with your babies where it's safe. It's something for future research, but the fact they had long arms is at least suggestive," Professor Stringer told BBC News Online.
Studies of its hands and feet, which have not yet been described, may shed light on this question, he added.
H. floresiensis probably evolved from another species called Homo erectus, whose remains have been discovered on the Indonesian island of Java.
Homo erectus may have arrived on Flores about one million years ago, evolving its tiny physique in the isolation provided by the island.
What is surprising about this is that this species must have made it to Flores by boat. Yet building craft for travel on open water is traditionally thought to have been beyond the intellectual abilities of Homo erectus.
Legendary creatures
Even more intriguing is the fact that Flores' inhabitants have incredibly detailed legends about the existence of little people on the island they call Ebu Gogo.
The islanders describe Ebu Gogo as being about one metre tall, hairy and prone to "murmuring" to each other in some form of language. They were also able to repeat what islanders said to them in a parrot-like fashion.
"There have always been myths about small people - Ireland has its Leprechauns and Australia has the Yowies. I suppose there's some feeling that this is an oral history going back to the survival of these small people into recent times," said co-discoverer Peter Brown, an associate professor of archaeology at New England.
The last evidence of this human at Liang Bua dates to just before 12,000 years ago, when a volcanic eruption snuffed out much of Flores' unique wildlife.
Yet there are hints H. floresiensis could have lived on much later than this. The last legend featuring the mythical creatures dates to just 100 years ago.
But Henry Gee, senior editor at Nature magazine, goes further. He speculates that species like H.floresiensis might still exist, somewhere in the unexplored tropical forest of Indonesia.
Textbook rewrite
Professor Stringer said the find "rewrites our knowledge of human evolution". He added: "To have [this species] present 12,000 years ago is frankly astonishing."
Homo floresiensis might have evolved its small size in response to the scarcity of resources on the island.
"When creatures get marooned on islands they evolve in new and unpredictable courses. Some species grow very big and some species grow very small," Dr Gee explained.
The sophistication of stone tools found with the Hobbit has surprised some scientists given the human's small brain size of 380cc (around the same size as a chimpanzee).
"The whole idea that you need a particular brain size to do anything intelligent is completely blown away by this find," Dr Gee commented.
Because the remains are relatively recent and not fossilised, scientists are even hopeful they might yield DNA, which could provide an entirely new perspective on the evolution of the human lineage.

So giants are not out of order either.

Astound the rubes with Bullsh!t that sounds mysterious and authoratative

Heron's book begins by making some conclusions that cannot be drawn. His claim that the Great Pyramid has sides of 365.2422 Jewish Cubits in length result in a dimension of 761.68 feet. But the estimated length of each side of the pyramid, including the now removed limestone casing, has been measured at 755.5 feet in length. If we divide THAT figure by the Heron's Jewish Cubit, we find that the length is a non-significant 362.27772227772 cubits. Of course, MY carrying the degree of accuracy to 10 decimal places is ridiculous with such gross measurements... as are Mr. Heron's carrying it to four decimal places. He does this to exagerate the claims. . . which are something he picked out of his nose!

And exactly WHAT is the length of a Jewish Cubit?

One authority has this to say:

Marsengill, Editor (The Philalethes Society) said, "According to Bishop Cumberland, the Hebrew cubit was 21 inches but according to all other authorities it was approximately 18 inches. Two kinds of cubits were known: the Sacred (36 inches) and the Profane (18 inches). The measurements given in the Bible about Solomon's Temple are all based on the Profane or common cubit." 6

But others claim the Jewish Cubit is

In ALL of the literature I searched... certainly not exhaustive... NOT ONE listed the Jewish Cubit as being Heron's 25.025 British Inches!

This probably gives a good idea of how much weight we should give Mr. Heron's scholarship... not a cubits worth... to mix a metaphore.
