RUSH: Folks, you want to hear how bad the mainstream press has it? Give you a short little sound bite. Yesterday was January 27th, 2005. January 27th, 2005, was yesterday. A few short months ago, it was November 2nd, 2004, and on that date, George Bush was reelected president of the United States. Condoleezza Rice was to be sworn in as Secretary of State today -- number of other political events -- the Iraqi elections. And this was a portion of a report brought forth by Judy Woodruff on "Inside Politics" on CNN.
JUDY WOODRUFF: With President Bush rushing head-long into his second term, we are going to reverse gears. Exactly one year ago today, John Kerry won a key primary victory in his bid to win the Democratic presidential nomination. We're going to take you back, looking at the topsy-turvy campaign month of January, 2004.
RUSH: Judy, does anybody care? Who is deciding what the news is over there? Does anybody care? They did a whole report on January of 2004 of a guy who lost. They can't get over it. Now, have you noticed all the legislation Kerry is introducing lately, folks? He didn't produce any during the previous time as a senator, before he ran for president. Now he's proposing legislation all over the place. And he's got the full hour on Meet the Press on Sunday with Tim Russert. He's the exclusive singular guest on Meet the Depressed, on the day of the Iraqi elections. He's out there already running again.
There's a companion story. It's somewhere here in the stack. Some government, federal, state, don't know, we'll have to find the story, wants to begin taxing plastic surgery and a number of things that you do -- well, some of you do, I don't do this -- but Botox and so forth. When I saw they're going to tax Botox treatments, I thought, gee, did Kerry escape that! Can you imagine what the tax would have been, the amount of Botox that guy used all last year. You add that up, that would be a serious tax. That would severely cut into his Senate salary. But this business of these guys can't get over it, you know, have you heard them? They keep talking about if it were only just for a switch of 55,000 votes in Ohio, why, Kerry would have been president and Bob Shrum would not have to go up to Columbia to teach journalism or whatever he's going teach. If I've heard this once I've heard it twice. "Oh, but 55,000 votes in Ohio, if that had just switched, why, we'd be all sitting here in different places today." Well, try this: If 5,000 voters had switched in New Hampshire, Bush would have carried that state. If 6,000 voters had switched in Wisconsin, Bush would have carried that state. If 34,000 voters had switched in Oregon, Bush would have carried that state. This is from the Rothenberg report.
So if in the backward hypothetical world of the Democrats, Bush wins re-election with a considerable 307 electoral votes if just 11 -- 45,000 votes switch. In three different states. The Democrats are out there worrying about 55,000 votes in one state, as though that's realistic. Then you go to these other smaller states, 5,000 in New Hampshire, 6,000 in Wisconsin, 34,000 in Oregon. If you add those up, that's less than the 55 the Democrats say they need from Ohio. Give them all to Bush, and Bush would have 307 electoral votes and it wouldn't even be a talking point. That's how in the past they are living.
Denny Crane: "I want two things. First God and then Fox News."
It's not like she could have used the extra time on her show today to do a retrospective on, say....
Dr. Rice?????
O.T. You still like Boston Legal since the addition of Candice Bergan? I see my once favorite show going downhill.
I have a guilty secret: in the course of my daily journeys, I come across lots of out-of-date magazines--Time, Newsweek, occasionally Esquire or Rolling Stone. I like to read the articles fawning over Kerry, proclaiming him the Second Coming, prognosticating that he will take Bush down...yada, yada, yada. I start gloating all over again.
This woman just needs to get layed! She always looks angry!
Denny Crane: "I want two things. First God and then Fox News."
Today on the Woodruff Happy Hour she slammed Vice President Cheney for wearing a grey coat instead of a black coat like everyone else at the Auschwitz rememberance. This is Lunacy. She actually debated this with Brasille (?) and Buchanan. And you wonder why I want Fox News in Canada?
Not me! LOL I was just an observation!
All of Judy Woodruff's meanderings are well and good to scoff at, but who are we going to run in 2008 against Preparation H?
I don't get it??? . . . Why the fascination for such a bore and (man) whore (i.e., gigolo)? /sarcasm.
