WASHINGTON, Jan. 18 (UPI) -- Sen. Joseph Biden, D-Del., urged Europe to "get over" the fact President Bush was re-elected and work with the United States on common problems.
"I spent a little time in Europe recently, and I have one simple message: Get over it. Get over it. President Bush is our president for the next four years, so get over it and start to act in your interest, Europe," Biden said during the Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing to confirm U.S. Secretary of State nominee Condoleezza Rice. "But that requires us to engage in the hoped-for diplomacy from the gentle lady from Stanford."
Rice was provost of Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif., before Bush tapped her to become national security adviser in 2000.
Rice has vowed to work with Europe and other U.S. allies on issues, including Iraq.
Trans-Atlantic relations were hurt following the U.S.-led decision to invade Iraq.

About the only good thing he had to say.

Once in a while, the senator has a lucid thought.
Better Biden than Kerry.
Biden needs to talk to the DNC and blue states, too. After all, we survived the Clinton years.
My first thought was, Biden was heading back to Europe to report to his constituency.
And the Dems pride themselves on "diplomatic skills"? roflmao!! Oh, ick. This is gross. Regardless of how awful France has been during 911, Bush Candidacy -- one does NOT speak to another country this way in an official capacity. I'm disgusted by how Biden is disgracing the US with this type of "chit-chat" so-called "counsel". Whether France gets over it or not, is NONE of the US's concern.

What the heck does a "provost" do at Stanford or anywhere else?
I'm guessing Biden's stock at DU has just dropped dramatically.
Not to diminish his statement...but, he should turn around and say the same to many in his own party.

The position of Provost was created in 1952 during the Presidency of J. E. Wallace Sterling. Many people consider the Stanford Provost to be the "heir apparent" to the President because of the five men who succeeded Sterling as President, three were Provost of Stanford (Lyman, Kennedy, and Hennessy), one was Provost of the University of Chicago (Casper), while the other was President of Rice University (Pitzer). The Provost is the University's chief academic and budget officer. The Provost and the President together conduct Stanford's relationships with the neighboring community and other schools and organizations.
Will France even understand the low-brow humor and language? Does it translate well into French?

I think Ike was President of Columbia University for a short time.
For a Dem, I like Biden. Always have. Not saying I agree with him on anything, but he seems to be no-nonsense sorta guy, at least as much as you can be in Washington, and I appreciate that.
