Mr Egeland holds a Magister Artium in Political Science, University of Oslo. He has been a Fulbright Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley and a fellow at the International Peace Research Institute, Oslo, and the Truman Institute for the Advancement for Peace, Jerusalem. Mr. Egeland has been Chair of Amnesty International, Norway, and Vice Chair of the International Executive Committee of Amnesty International.

Which means he gets a gross salary of UnderSecretaryGeneral|Gross $186,144 but pays no Income Taxes for I quote from the link:

Income taxes: Most member states have granted United Nations staff exemption from national income taxation on their United Nations emoluments. However, a few member States do tax the emoluments of their nationals. In such cases, the organizations reimburse the income tax to the staff member.

which means even if he does pay income taxes the UN reimburses him!

Which means he was paid around $5,000 per Month from US TAX MONEY for the current compensation for Norwegians (Norwegian Fulbright Program)

We can find Mr. Egerland's base salary is a pitiful US$174,137 p.a.. In addition Mr Egerland receives a New York duty allowance equivalent to 60.7% of his base. A piffling $105,159.

Now he also receives a rent allowance equal to 25% of his adjusted salary which works out to be $69,824.

This totals out at US $349,120 p.a..

Any way to find out how much he's donated to charities, or disaster reliefs - this one or previous disasters?

I figure he must give a good chunk since he thinks what we donate is "stingy".

I bet anything he's a phony and a fraud, but very generous with other people's money.

I hope we get to shine some light on this ingrate.

All things being relative, I guess this splains why he thinks $15,000,000.00 is chump change. I say cut his salary & bennies 85-90% and perhaps fifteen million dollars will look a tad larger to him. I don't care if he doesn't pay any income tax, I think that's great...now only if we could repeal the 16th Amendment & make that the case for everyone else.

I remember during the California governor's race that conservatives were whining & trashing Arainna Huffington 'cuz she paid only a pittance in federal income taxes. SO WHAT? There have been questions about whether or not the 16th Amendment has been properly ratified in the first place, & the FedGov refuses to discuss the issue....I smell a dead rat here, & it really stinks.
