A militant Merry Christmas
WND ^ | 12/6/2004 | Vox Day

But if the fact that Christians celebrate the birth of their savior bothers you so much, then for the love of all that is collectively approved and societally consensual, don't celebrate it! Forget the carols, the gift-giving, the candlelight services. Forget "Silver Bells" and "Silent Night" and the stockings hung with care.

Celebrate your own holiday. Get some woad and paint your butt blue. Burn a druid to death in a wicker basket. Jump over a bonfire and have sex with a stranger at the solstice. Sacrifice a black goat at midnight. I truly don't care and if you'll just let me know which holiday is your big one, I'll be happy to wish you a Blessed Beltane, an Inspired Imbolc or a Serendipitous Samhain.

...I am not buying them because Kwanzaa Timmy is coming to town with his maize and his copy of the "Communist Manifesto." I am buying them because it is Christmas time."

Classic.

A majority of today's Americans have no clue about the American connection with chirstianity.
It is primarily due to the poor education that is received in the public schools system.
The fact is the 13 colonies were formed by people fleeing religious oppression.

I think religion and government can co-exist without one interfering on the other.
Most American customs are based in our religious past.
Celebrating them does not necessarily mean it is an endorsement of religion. It is just acknowledgment of our history.
Most liberals find it impossible to acknowledge their religious roots.
I can't even get them to admit that all modern ethics and morals come from the 10 commandments.
They try to tell me that humans are born predisposed to morals. Whatever.

The Constitution specifies Freedom of Religion...not Freedom from Religion. Any time someone talks about the separation of Church and State, I ask them to point it out in the Constitution...it is just not there in the context they wish it to be.

The ACLU is a terrorist, un-American organization that must be destroyed...

I am doing EXACTLY what he suggests.

I have countered "Happy Holidays" with "Merry Christmas". I've been met with some surprised looks, but usually answered with "Merry Christmas to you too".

I will NOT shop in any store that refuses to acknowledge Christmas. Merry XMAS doesn't work - Happy Holidays - Seasons Greetings - uh uh. Not this year. If they insist, I will walk out, leaving my unpaid items at the counter.

I will go to the civic sponsored parades. I will wear my Christmas corsage, Christmas Earrings. I will stand in a group of like-thinkers and sing Christmas Carols - like Silent Night - O, Holy Night, Hark The Herald Angels Sing - NOT Jingle Bells, Winter Wonderland and Frosty the Snowman.

I will hold my Bible up in crowds. I will once again be PROUD TO BE A CHRISTIAN!!! I will allow the courage of my faith to once again surface - and this time they CANNOT silence me.

I agree. Those that oppose the meaning of Christmas should not take the days off and live like they would any other day. Christmas celebrations including gift giving all stems from on thing, the celebration of Christ's comming and freeing man from sin. Those anti- christ people have no reason to celebrate anything, so they shouldn't. They are being hipocrates if they do.
Jews celebrate Hanika which is now, and they celebrate their good fortune when all the Christians spend money on goods they sell in their stores. It was always a win win situation, and there were never any problems with mutual respect for each others religious celebrations. That is, until the loony leftist came along (grinch, or now known as the ACLU) to try steal Christmas from Christians, because they can't stand seeing anyone has faith and hope in our creator. We should all be misurable immoral freaks like them.

...The season of what? "Have a good season" is something you tell an athlete, not a fellow celebrant of Jesus Christ's birth.

LOL, this is so true.

Merry Christmas.

Not if I have anyhting to say about it. The author summed up my feelings about all this "Happy Holidays" crap even better than I could have. I'm tired of the Christmas season, and the reason for it, being relegated to some generic mismash of meaningless fluff. It's CHRISTMAS, meant to celebrate the birth of JESUS CHRIST. That's what people will get from me this year and every year. And if it causes a liberal, ACLU-loving pagan's head to explode, tough stuff.
God bless and Merry Christmas to you all!

Time to recycle the PC Christmas greeting. It always baffles my bleeding-heart, knee-jerk liberal family. They have no sense of humor and are always offended by how ludicrous it sounds when trying not to offend.....

Please accept without obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, politically correct, low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral, celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all...

And a financially successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2003, but with due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures or sects, and having regard to the race, creed, colour, age, physical ability, religious faith, choice of computer platform or dietary preference of the wishee.

By accepting this greeting you are bound by these terms that-

This greeting is subject to further clarification or withdrawal
This greeting is freely transferable provided that no alteration shall be made to the original greeting and that the proprietary rights of the wishor are acknowledged.
This greeting implies no promise by the wishor to actually implement any of the wishes.
This greeting may not be enforceable in certain jurisdictions and/or the restrictions herein may not be binding upon certain wishees in certain jurisdictions and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wishor.
This greeting is warranted to perform as reasonably may be expected within the usual application of good tidings, for a period of one year or until the issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first.

The wishor warrants this greeting only for the limited replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wishor.

Any references in this greeting to "the Lord", "Father Christmas", "Our Savior", or any other festive figures, whether actual or fictitious, dead or alive, shall not imply any endorsement by or from them in respect of this greeting, and all proprietary rights in any referenced third party names and images are hereby acknowledged.

It's always the Joooooooooos! You must think every store owner is a Jew, and that every Jew agrees with the ACLU. , Did you go to school on the short bus? BTW, I have never had a problem with Christmas, and have always detested the ACLU.

'Being' is not undifferentiated and never can be. Culture is the expression of these differences which do and must always exist. To ignore this is to betray one's total lack of sensitivity to empirically demonstrated historical fact. The whole PC thing is so childish, artificial and by now, dated. Will they ever get it?

I agree with you. But I suspect that people don't understand: strip Christianity from the season and you have an Iron-age pagan celebration. All that anxillary stuff, the tree, the missletoe, the holly, the eat til you drop excess is pagan. Someone on FR suggested that since Christmas could not be associated with any "public" agency, there was no reason for government offices to be closed during these times. That may be something a smart lawyer could look into. It would be fun to see them dancing around this on "Nattering Public Radio," reporting a class-action suit brought by some constituent of the "VRWC."

I think we'd have a valid point saying that any reference to "winter holidays" or "solstice" or anything referring to any season is implicitly paganistic, and as such religious.

True, fat chance. But wouldn't it be fun. Imagine the ACLU as a snake swallowing its own tail. (yes that's from Nietzche )

'The United States of Pagan America is coming...just ask your local chapter of the ACLU.'

I don't see it that way: http://www.blueletterbible.org/kjv/Psa/Psa002.html#6

This country was founded with a cross and a dedication to spreading the true gospel. While a lot of churches and Christians have been waylaid by a false gospel, I think they may be returning to the Rock from whence they have been hewn.

I just tried to pull up the ADL's pages on the 'DECEMBER DILEMMA'. I made copies a year or so ago, in case they disappeared. They are either working overtime, or they have pulled in their horns. I can't even get the CACHED version. I can't even pull up the ADL. Are they still doing their thang? Maybe my computer is overloaded, yet I was able to pull up related sites, non-ADL.

Have a Blessed CHRISTmas, one and all.
