I don't think the 'Rats will be able to do much with him in the confirmation hearings.

Excellent choice. Nothing like a good, conservative NY cop to shake things up.

Excellent choice! He was a good cop and a 9/11 survivor.

I think that's an excellent choice. He's a very credible voice on security matters and he was a very strong supporter of teh President and the War during the campaign.

Excellent choice.
Mr. Kerick is a real hero who manifested himself very well on 9/11 as Police commissioner of the NYPD.
Also he had the courage to go to Iraq and participate in training the Iraqi police.

There couldn't be a better choice.
Addendum: Just announced on FOX News as well.

Best possible choice for one of the world's toughest jobs. Imagine being in charge of security for an entire country. With suicidal psychos for enemies.

Cheering and patting myself on my back----I have advocated him for this job at least 6 times on various threads regarding this subject.
I was so happy to see him in the running this morning. I have watched him ever since he came back from Iraq, and he has been one of the most credible about the training needed of the Iraqi police.
He was also very good during the election, speaking for Bush.
