Bin Laden not 'admirable'

Published November 28, 2004

Former CIA senior analyst Michael Scheuer offered little in the way of insight on the mentality of the nation's top intelligence agency. "I think without question we're losing the war on terror, sir," Mr. Scheuer said last Sunday on "Meet the Press." Fair enough, especially coming from one in the know. But this former chief of the CIA's Osama bin Laden unit, and anonymous author of "Imperial Hubris," a book that criticizes the administration's handling of the war, has some bizarre ideas that we hope don't become administration policy any time soon.
Top among Mr. Scheuer's reasons why bin Laden considers the United States an enemy is our "unqualified support for Israel." The solution? "Perhaps being more insistent on some arrangement with the [Israeli] settlements." So bin Laden declares war against America in the 1990s, when Bill Clinton was treating uber-terrorist Yasser Arafat as a legitimate statesman, and his grievance in 2004 is American support for Israel? Moreover, by Mr. Scheuer's reckoning, bin Laden is a "remarkable man, a great man in many ways," not to mention an "admirable man" because he "changed the course of history." On the latter point, it was the U.S. response to September 11 that altered history.
Make no mistake, Mr. Scheuer is no apologist for bin Laden. He understands the danger al Qaeda poses to all Americans and is deeply concerned that another attack is forthcoming. Which is why his comments were so confounding:

Thank God the CIA is rid of this unhinged "annonymous" idiot and his ilk. With idiots like him working in the CIA its no wonder we were hit on 9/11 and a bonified miracle we haven't been hit since 9/11.

Michael Scheuer is a two-bit, liberal-demokkkRAT, butt-boy-turd-slurping, degenerate, hate-America, asswipe, deviant, degenerate dirtbag, traitorous, seditionist, garbage, PUNK, worthy of trial, conviction, and IMMEDIATE execution, in a time of war.

As are all subhumans convicted by a Military Tribunal.

Is it any wonder why the Bush administration appointed Porter Goss as director of the CIA with the intention of cleaning house? For Mr. Bush to move forward effectively with his plans to democratize the Middle East, CIA analysts like Mr. Scheuer must know that their worldview has been proved wrong.

...bonified miracle we haven't been hit since 9/11.

IMHO, Iraq is the reason we haven't been hit since 9/11. The U.S.-led invasion of Iraq has forced groups like al-Qaeda to divert enormous time and resources to sabatoge our mission there. By going on the offensive -- taking the fight to the enemy on the enemy's own home turf -- Bush has put al-Qaeda on defense. So, in a sense, Iraq has been a diversion -- for the terrorists who would rather fight us here than there.

Good grief, this guy can even pull the wool over the eyes of the washtimes. He's no apologist for Bin Laden? Then how come he favors EVERY arguement/policy of the Bin Laden apologists?

Wrong. Why then are Islamists killing Russians? Islamofacist have many enemies, on goal. All who stand in their way must die. Whether we cut all aid to Israel, it won't stop them until we are crushed. Our plan? Crush Islamofascists.

Indians, Sudanese, Indonesians, Australians, Philippinos, Dutch, Spaniards, etc.?

It isn't Israel. It is ANYBODY AND EVERYBODY that would dare stand in the way of their political expansion.

All one need do is read the news. Anywhere they think they can get away with terror, islamic terror will take place.

It is us or them. We need a high kill ratio.

Unhinged is the operative word here. I've heard a few interviews and read a number of articles on this vengeful nutjob. This guy's ability to express opposing opinions in the same paragraph rivals that of the early 90's interviews of "Mad Vlad" Zhirinovsky. He insists he is no fan of Bin Laden then expresses admiration for him. He says it would be foolish to try and appease him then says we should do exactly that. The CIA's former Al Qaeda expert says the plight of the Palestinians in one of Al Qaeda's principal motivations and that we should abandon Israel in order to buy peace when even I know that ol' Binny never breathed a word about the palis until he saw footage of them dancing in the streets on 9/11 then belatedly paid lip service to their cause. He says we are not nearly ruthless and brutal enough in pursuing Al Qaeda but that everything we actually DO is completely wrongheaded and will only make us more enemies. It just goes on and on. I'm with other conservative commentators that it was out of pure political motivation that Tenet and the CIA establishment gave this clown the fast track to green light his incoherent screed to sway the election.

Scheuer is so over the top he makes grandstanding Jack Ryan wannabe (you should read some of the choice excerpts from HIS book) Richard Clarke look like the heart and soul of propriety.

I actually used that logic against my Muslim coworker who said all Arab/US relations would be fine if the US stopped the aid. He looked perplexed as if he hadn't heard that one before. I baited him into some real anti-semetic stuff, then gave him transcripts of Hitler, about the Jewish international financial cabal, etc. I said, Hitler had it right, huh, kill 'em all?" He quickly returned, "Oh no, that's not what I said." I witnessed the Muslim lie.

It can't be said often enough. Our troops are over there to protect the rest of us here.

The CIA and The State Dept need Spring Cleaning......

Two different kettle of fish. CIA, might be cleaned up. A classmate of mine I believe works for the Agency has said the paper shufflers outnumber the workers 3 or 4 to one, just like a big corporation. The difficulty in State is the ability to FIRE somebody. Almost impossible.

There is definitly a huge "restructuring" and "downsizing" needed. I've never seen it in a government agency and doubt that it will happen. I think that this is the reason the Patriot Act and the 9-11 commission came up with the idea of combining the intelligence agencies, thereby giving the executive branch a way of culling out the deadwood.

Does anybody know the structure of the employment rules for State?
