But every turkey is not for dinner
The Washington Times ^ | 26 November 2004 | Wesley Pruden

Posted on 11/26/2004 11:09:23 PM PST by concretebob

William Tecumseh Sherman, the terrorist and firebug, famously said, "War is hell," but he hadn't seen the worst of it. He never had to take a trip on a holiday weekend in America, circa 2000. Not every turkey winds up on a dining-room table.

Corporate Republicans, accustomed to life at the country club, are particularly insensitive to inconveniences in the lives of the peasants.

Spoken like a Leftist.

"The government is afraid, not of terrorists but of being politically incorrect. The screeners know who they're looking for, and they're not the white-haired Lutheran grannies from Minnesota or Methodist Sunday-school boys from Mississippi who are pulled out of the line and poked and probed with hands and wands as if they were evildoers dispatched from Osama bin Laden's cave."

If the government is not the enemy of the airline companies then I would need proof to understand this.

The highway checkpoints through which I went in USSR are bound to be a step not too far in future.

Except that Wes Pruden is no leftist. He's a realist.

Realists don't try to pin the situation exclusively on Republicans. These measures didn't pass without bipartisan support. Tell that to your smarmy "realist."

I wonder why Pruden conveniently left out how the 2 Russian planes were brought down by women hiding explosives on ther bodies. If TSA had some reason to believe that this might possibly occur here, they should've explained it in advance.

Not every turkey...etc.

Pruden is quite correct, but, equally he is too cowardly to note that the bulk of non-feathered turkeys wind up in government, to the general cost and disadvantage of the citizenry.

My thoughts exactly. There is no way I am allowing my 17 year old daughter anywhere near an airport until they sort this out. I refuse to expose her to anything of the sort. Next vacation, we drive.

Usually Pruden is more thoughtful than this. The lion's share of the blame for the heavy handedness must go to a Democrat, Norm Mineta.

Just adding, why aren't these searches done IN PRIVATE???
Period. What moron is in charge that women are now forced to strip in public if they want to fly?

WHY is it so DIFFICULT to provide a private area for these searches? WHY is that asking so much?

Yea, I don't blame you.

on a separate note: I was just thinking, it's not my fault if i squirt in their eye when they grope me! hahahaha (sarcasm off) They need to find a better way to screen people, something like in the terminator movie when he goes through the body detector and it shows his skeleton and weapons. maybe i have my movies mixed up cause it's late.

I'm surprised someone hasn't already sued over this. How
STUPID can they be? Isn't there a procedure for doing this, and if there is, why doesn't it include taking the person to a private room?

Aren't there laws about taking off your clothes in public?

Can't they use ultrasound or something equally innocuous to have a look?

Another thing the article leaves out is precisely that. from what i understand from a article i read a while back was that you can request to do it in private.
