R.E.N.K. From Smuggled N. Korean Communist Party Documents Highlighted (Samples) ^ | 21 November 2004 | R.E.N.K. (NGO group)

The Japanese NGO (non government humanitarian) group in support of freedom in North Korea and safety for North Korean refugees, R.E.N.K., has released secret, internal North Korean Workers (Communist) Party documents which indicated substantial concern by the regime's authorities about smuggling that involved Western influences/documents/videos, etc. and reaching North Koreans, as well as secret North Korean Party documents making it to the outside.

Partial translation to follow--assistance requested of other Freepers (if they have time or comments) who have "Freepranslation" skills; (these docs were just released today on the web):

Here is one of the North Korean internal documents showing heightened concern (cover page):

Summary of Document titles: (from Original Korean Language):

"Continually Wage War to Stamp Out Completely the Illegal Imports to North Korea" (Along the Chinese Border); Order by the Korean Workers Party Hamkyong North Province Division Committee, November 2003" and another "(Internal Use Only): Wage Strong War Upon the Usage and Distribution of Illegal Recordings and Publications" Order by the Workers Party Publishing House, Pyongyang, and goes on to quote the 'Great Leader Kim Jong-il who has insists that we must fight against outside influences which the Enemy seeks to introduce to our country to create opposition (i.e. counterevolutionary) thought."

Granted the documents are about a year old but do indicate troubles the North Korean authorities are having with anti-government circulars, materials, and other Western items making the rounds in the northern part of the DPRK, which may de-stabilize the regime, and also fears that North Korean government documents are being leaked out to China. It is said there is one reference is said documents to the fact that "(sic) the former Soviet bloc nations failed to prevent this type of pollution coming in, and as a result they were destabilized and brought down by the enemy".

Something is going on in North Korea. An impending overthrow? Death of Kim Jong-Il? Something else?

Remember, the docs here are about year old. But newer docs have been spotted. Also, concern by the authorities is on the rapid rise. And we have hand additionally interesting reports this week.

Bottom line: He is being destabilized and the people there have had enough. Chia head sits on a power keg below him, and Uncle Sams obliterating power hanging above him, overhead. All he can really do at this point is release some pressure, step up his internal security, and big even deeper holes near Mt. Paektu to hide in at the appropriate time.

The poor NK people are the key to their future if/when they can uprise. They need the truth first, and then additional resources. This is a long struggle, but it is now well underway, IMHO.

Document # 3 in that series just posted above, shows particular concern about compact disks ("CD") making it into North Korea.....One can see "CD" throughout the document.

I did not see the picture.

I can say that the one North Korean secret police document is very concerned about CDs coming in from China to NK, because they bring in "Western music, anti revolutionary themes and RELIGIOUS material".

Thanks. Of interest in document #3 is the communists' RELIGIOUS REFERENCE.

They tell the authorities to keep an eye out for, quoting them here, small booklets (tracts?) containing "religious superstition", ("chongkyo mishin")

Straightening out North Korea will take generations. It will be interesting to see whether there can be a non-violent confrontation between South Korea and China over who gets the North.

There are two pics, side by side,of the same conference room, taken from the same perspective..of a dais, filled with people..above them , are two pics of the Kims, and a big sign...in the second, only one pic, of the old man, and a different sign. It's a striking visual..

Here's the caption...( I'm copying from the paper)...

"In May, portraits of both Kim Il Sung, left, and Kim Jung Il hung in the People's Ciltural Center in Pyongyang, North Korea, during a North Korean Red Cross conference. I ASugust, only Kim Il SDung's portratit remained."

Got it.

Also, however, on North Korean TV last night there were plenty of references to "Great Leader" Kim Jong il, and other scenes at party conferences, military, etc. where both Father and Son's portraits were on display. So it certainly is not yet an across the board policy.....
