CRONKITE: KARL ROVE BEHIND BIN LADEN TAPE Sat Oct 30 2004 16:31:19 ET

Former CBSNEWS anchorman Walter Cronkite believes Bush adviser Karl Rove is possibly behind the new Bin Laden tape.

Cronkite made the startling comments late Friday during an interview on CNN.

Cronkite said he is "inclined to think that Karl Rove, the political manager at the White House, who is a very clever man, he probably set up bin Laden to this thing."

Interviewer Larry King did not ask Cronkite to elaborate on the provocative election eve accusation.

Gee . . . maybe Uncle Walt is right. In fact, I can imagine it happening just this way:

(Ring . . . Ring . . . Ring . . .)

ObL: Hello?

Rove: Yes, hello. May I speak to Osama, please?

ObL: Speaking. How may I help you?

Rove: Hey, Osama! It’s Karl . . . Karl Rove!

ObL: Hey Karl. What’s up?

Rove: Aw, pretty busy here, as you might imagine. Pretty tight race goin’ on right now. You may have heard.

ObL: Yeah, going down to the wire, for sure.

Rove: Well, that’s what I want to talk to you about. You mind doing us a favor?

ObL: Can’t say. Depends on what it is.

Rove: Would you mind doing a video tape for us? Release it right before the election?

ObL: Well, maybe. What do you want me to put in it?

Rove: Well, you know. Put in all the Democratic talking points. Make references to Fahrenheit 9/11. Put in a bunch of Michael Moore stuff. That sort of thing. Think you could do that for us?

ObL: Yeah, sure Karl, we probably could. Just one problem, though.

Rove: What’s that?

ObL: One of your airstrikes the other day. Took out our last remaining video camera.

Rove: You don’t say?!! Came pretty close to gettin’ you on that one, did we? Well . . . whaddya know! . . . . . . . Say, uh, . . . . which, uh, . . . airstrike was it? If you don’t mind me asking.

ObL: Don’t really want to comment on that one, Karl. But we are out one video camera now.

Rove: Hey, that’s no problem. I’ll have my people send one right over. Which, uh, cave should we deliver it to?

ObL: Don’t sweat that. I’ll send a courier to pick it up.

Rove: Well, uh, OK. Sure. Your call.

ObL: When can you get it here?

Rove: How’s close of business tomorrow? Think you can turn around a video by the end of October if we do that?

ObL: Yeah, sure Karl. Consider it done. Anything else we can do for you?

Rove: Naw, that should do it. We’d really be grateful.

ObL: No problem.

Rove: Thanks! Please pass on my regards to your wives.

ObL: Same here – best to the missus.

Rove: I’ll pass that on to her. Take care now!

ObL: Bye.

So it’s official now – Uncle Walt, the erstwhile “most trusted man in America” is now a bona fide card carrying member of the Michael Moore/Jimmy Carter/Looney Left wing of the Democratic Party.

I watched that interview last night and it was sad. Cronkite was obviously confused and Larry King had to cover for him when he forgot simple things like the year of the last election.

I was angry that his family didn't protect him. The poor old guy should be relaxing and enjoying life with people who love him, not giving election commentary when he is no longer able to do it.

And I hope he never has to endure the humiliation of knowing how badly he blew it last night. :-(

Anytime something happens that "might" benefit the GOP Rove is always the mastermind.

It's Bush's fault

Rove is behind this

I'm curious to know what his theory is. Does he believe we're keeping bin laden in a room and giving him scripts to read, or does he believe we have a perfect double for bin laden.

I guess it's just morbid curiosity on my part, his answer to that question will tell me just how far gone he is.

Cry me a river. I do not feel the least bit sorry for the old bastard. He is the one who made everyone feel that the Tet offensive was a Viet Cong victory. He is a sorry piece of you know what! I hate the sob.

There is just too much of a difference between them and us.

And one of the biggest differences is the number of rounds we have in our personal armories... ;-)

"To think Cronkite was once one of the most trusted men in America?"

Trusted by whom? Cronkite has always been a Leftist media pig. It is just that the Sheeple were even less discerning then.

Cronkite helped establish the Leftist MSM in a way that it seemed trustable and "mainstream". Cronkite was one of the early "Useful Idiots".

Most of us KNEW in the 60's that Cronkite was an America hating sonuvabitch and a liar...

He was CBS's first BIG LIE to America, and he was NEVER to be trusted....

NOW - everyone should recognize this and the fact that he is certifiable NUTS!

Why do we call "Democrats" "Dimowits"? Because of idiocy and lunacy like this. Another example: on KIRO 710 AM Thursday night, a liberal radio talk show host had Jim McDimwit, ex-government Mike Lowry (D), and a guy from the BBC on his show. McDimwit insinuated that the Republicans were behind the terrorist tape (from the "American" guy) so that people would be scared to come out of their houses to vote on Tuesday. Unbelieveable. Liberalism (and Democrat infatuation) is truly a mental disorder. Cronkite and McDimwit should both be committed. But Seattle will re-elect Dimwit anyway. They are totally clueless.

We KNOW McAuliff is - he was blaming Mr. Rove for the forged CBS documents among whatever else in the campaign. Kerry and Edwards have tried to hide it but they've slipped a few times and shown it.

Cry me a river.

Yeah, whatever. I figured someone would flame me, but I don't really care. I have no respect for Cronkite's politics, and I don't doubt that he was a real detriment to the conservative movement in his day.

But, as someone who has dealt with geriatric dementia in two of my close relatives, I found that hard to watch. I hope you never have to 'cry a river' as you watch someone you love go through that.

I'm beginning to think we really are on the verge of a civil war. There is just too much of a difference between them and us.

Heaven and Hell. Last Judgment. Just my opinion.

(I just watched Inner Strength: The Role of Faith in the Public Lives of George W. Bush, Rick Santorum, & Zell Miller.)
