NO DRAFT
New York Post ^ | 10/26/04 | Ralph Peters

Posted on 10/26/2004 3:15:56 AM PDT by kattracks

THERE is not going to be a military draft. No matter who is elected. No draft. None. Period.

Clear enough?

The shameless lies told for political advantage, the immoral scare tactics behind the warnings that President Bush has a "secret plan" to bring back the draft, have reached a new low point in recent American politics.

Sen. John Kerry knows there isn't going to be a draft.

Sen. John Edwards, who doesn't know much else, knows there isn't going to be a draft.

The Democratic National Committee knows there isn't going to be a draft.

And they're all warning us that a draft is on the way — unless, of course, young people vote for the Democratic ticket.

Apart from assuming that all young Americans are cowards with no sense of patriotism, the naked dishonesty of the "draft scare" tactic is stunning even to someone who's watched politicians misbehave for decades.

There isn't going to be a draft.

Why?

I refuse to believe that John Forbes Heinz Soros Kerry is lying.

Next, they'll be telling us that Edwards won't make the crippled get up and walk.

Right,......Kerry would have all the young people drafted into his new U.N. 'peace' Corps?

(Kerry's New Imperialist U.N. Armed 'peace' Corps?)

Here we go again. Another election that the Republicans are going to blow because they refuse to fight back. The Dem's have been pushing this for weeks and the Republicans just ignore it thinking no one will believe it. How can they be so stupid over and over again. This should have been turned on the Democrats (they are the ones that want the draft). I am still waiting for they Republican "October Surprise", But nothing. Democrats still have two or three more surprises for us but the Republicans just sit there looking stupid.

Just got to rant occasionally, please indulge me.

There isn't going to be a draft. Tell that to the NG, reserves, and regulars that have had their enlistment contracts extended indefinitely. How do you fight back when these are the facts? A little reality is in order here. Military slavery is not an option, these people are going to need replaced eventually. If you make war, you have to have the forces to do it, just as surely as day follows night.

That is a strange thing for this paper to say. Everything that Kerry and the Democrats have said and legislation proposed point to the conclusion that they would bring back the draft.

Kerry would need a draft or else we won't have a military. The traditional soldier will not serve under a communist anti-American traitor.

Even if your name is George W. Bush.

Even if your Defense Secretary is named Donald Rumsfeld.

The occupation and pacification of Arabia and Pakistan is a job for an army of ten million, and will take 50 years.

If we need a draft, there will be one, if we don't, there won't.

This political BS is sickening.

There is NOT going to be a Draft, meenie. Even if Kerry wins. He will not have the Dems in his corner in the House or Senate to back the idea.

Our All Volunteer Force is second to NOBODY. The Dems know it. So do the Republicans. The Republicans also know that if some Congressman (Like Rangel) sends it up again. The Dems will want to dabble in Social Engineering. Again. PC and Senitize, DACOWITS and Quota-fy it to DEATH!

Making it even worse than "McNamara's 100,000" and the "Hollow Force" under Carter.

Jack.

Why can't Republican politicians seem to locate their testicles? Has the MSM effectively neutered them?

The only way there will be a draft is if America is overrun by a plague of flesh-eating zombies.

Which, come to think of it, isn't a bad way of describing a Kerry victory.

With Kerry promising to send two more divisions to Iraq before pulling all our forces out, it is highly likely that Kerry will have to institute a drafte because:

1. Where is he going to get the two extra divisions;

2. How many of the current armed forces will re-enlist if Kerry gets elected, since approximately 3 out of 4 want Bush to remain as commander-in-chief;

3. With the precedent having been set this week that a member of the all-volunteer army does not have to go back to Iraq after his tour is over, there will likely be several more of those who will decide not to continue;

4. People go into the the services, not because they want to have it cushy, but for several reasons, not the least of which is they want to be warriors in a legal way.

<<<<<< Sen. John Edwards, who doesn't know much else, knows there isn't going to be a draft. >>>>>>

This line delights me, too! Inadvertently turning the dial to Larry King, I noted with disgust a love-fest interview with the vacuous Edwards and lingered long enough to see Edwards defend his stem-cell promise. Ugghhhh! How could anyone consider jfk knowing an equally unqualified je could succeed him?

Regards . . . Penny

Oh, I beg to differ.

Edwards is not "equally unqualified".

John F. Kerry, though unqualified, was a US Naval officer, a Lieutenant Governor, and has been a United States Senator for twenty years. If by some unlucky accident of history he becomes President, I think putting together and running a (left-wing) administration is not beyond his grasp.

John Edwards, OTOH, is an ambulance-chasing trial lawyer who was accidentally elected to the Senate, has not served a single term, and who performed so poorly during that less-than-one term that there was no chance of his re-election.

If a President Kerry (that's the John Kerry with prostate cancer) should fail to complete his term, there is NOTHING to make us suppose that President Edwards would be minimally competent to perfom the basic responsibilities of the office.

NOTHING.

I stand FIRMLY by my words, sir.

I'm in a rush to get to work . . . but one need not know any more than that jfk lacks a principled core. This in and of itself makes him unqualified. Twenty years of non-productive time in the Senate, four months in the Navy plotting ways to get out by way of undeserved medals, and an inability to do nothing more than parrot Michael Moore's sentiments make him a HOLLOW girlie-boy UNWORTHY of being commander-in-chief.

Good day to you.

I never said Jfk was not unqualified.

I said that Je was considerably MORE unqualified, and I stand by my words.
