At 1:05 this afternoon Andrea Mitchell, as part of MSNBC's coverage of the Clinton introduction of John Kerry, said, "There are a lot of city workers here. They were told to take the afternoon off. The Hatch Act doesn't mean much in Philadelphia. They just play by their own rules." The Hatch Act means that government workers are not allowed to be involved in campaigns, but in Philadelphia you throw that out. I mean, it's four-to-one Democrat versus Republican in Philadelphia. So when you see videotape of this, many in the audience are city workers. They were told to take the afternoon off and head on over to the Kerry rally. Two of the three cable networks have left coverage (after Clinton finished speaking). They have ceased their coverage of the event. MSNBC, the lone wolf, is still there with Andrea Mitchell doing very excited voiceover coverage of the event. I want you to hear Andrea Mitchell for yourself. This is at 1:05 on MSNBC this afternoon talking about the huge crowd in Philadelphia to say Bill Clinton and John Kerry.
MITCHELL: I have to tell you that, as you said earlier, this is largely not just a luncheon crowd. A lot of city workers pumping up this crowd. They've been told to take the afternoon off and get out here. The Hatch Act doesn't mean a whole lot in Philadelphia. They just play by their own rules.
RUSH: So a lot of city workers there. People have been told to take the afternoon off to go to the rally. It wasn't just a collection of, you know, people on their lunch hour going out to see what was going on at a big political rally downtown. This was a stacked deck.

Incredible! And what's even more incredible is that MSNBC mentioned it!
Most Dem crowds are Potemkin crowds. Union organized, etc.
I said on another thread, if you emptied out the King of Prussia Mall which is located in a lily white suburb of Philly, there'd be a higher percentage of Blacks present than were at the rally in downtown Philadelphia.
Disgusting

I will also bet that a vast majority of city/government workers will get full pay for the day. Who will check when this is encouraged at the highest levels of government?
Exactly!
It makes me sick how the media is willing to hide the truth!
That's interesting.
What really amazes me...is that while I often hear Andrea be blatantly partisan towards the libs- she often drops nuggets like this one- out of the blue. I noticed it a few times after one of the debates.
What goes through her mind, I've no idea. Is it likely that her husband would not be welcome at the Fed in a Kerry administration?
The dirty secret is most of them came out to see Clinton. The Democrats love him but Kerry makes them retch. If the crowd was large, its certainly because people weren't wowed by the candidate who's on the ballot.
They are also lying about how many people were there. I'm sure they bused in a few thousand too!
Look how the people turned out for Hitler..... wait a minute they are the same people!
fox said there were 60to 100 thousand people there,,I read on another thread there were 10 thousand. What do you think?
I am sure they will get the full pay for the day. Yes, I wonder who will check. The fact that part of their union dues goes to democratic candidates or the democratic party irritates me.
This being Philadelphia, I'm sure that at least 75% of the crowd was composed of city workers, union goons and schoolkids who were let out early. I was in Center City this afternoon and from what I saw the crowd was significantly less than the networks are claiming. Traffic wasn't much different than usual either.
Love Park's not all that big. For there to have been a hundred thousand, people would have to have been backed up at least half way up the Ben Franklin Parkway. They weren't. 10,000 is probably a generous guess. I can't believe it was more than that.
