I listened to NPR Radio this morning and discovered... bias! The host Renee Montagne talked with John Ridley about his quest to be a "swing voter" in the fall election. He has moved from LA to Milwaukee where he will vote. He will be interviewed from now until the election as he sarcastically bashes both Kerry and Bush with, IMO, a strong emphasis on bashing Bush.
This morning for example the only "good" thing he had to say about Bush was that Bush cut his taxes and "how could he be against that?". Maybe I'm being oversensitive, but it sounded sarcastic to me. He also professed agnosticism on memogate, a sign of either willful ignorance or deceit.
In any case, he was presented as a swing voter who has voted for both republicans and democrats. But his record in opensecrets.org looks a little different. If he is really "RIDLEY, JOHN LOS ANGELES,CA 90069 SELF EMPLOYED/OTHER", then his donations are:
3/23/2004 $500 Kerry, John and
1/21/2004 $500 Clark, Wesley
Does that sound like an unbiased swing voter to you?
The internet exposes another liar.

Who'd have thought!!! I can't believe it! Next you'll be saying CBS is biased as well.
(My heart goes out to you! I have been forced to listen to NPR when I can't find anything on AM and they really suck! Except Click and Clack)
Seriously? I don't know if they pretend to not be biased, know they are and lie to the public about it, or if they lie to themselves when they tell themselves they are a part of an objective and unbiased media.
Ridley reminds me of Click (or is it Clack) in his sarcasm except it's not as funny because he's too pompous.
I've seen NPR links on Slate, but I've never listened. I just automatically figured if Slate was pointing to it, it was liberally biased. Guess I was correct.

National "Public" Radio , bias paid for by our Tax money, hardly seems fair.
Thanks for the link, I'll check it tomorrow to see if they post today's story.
I like NPR, they have some great programing. If their programming does not agree with me, I turn the radio off.

I used to listen, but gave up shortly after 9/11. It was Daniel Shore, that paragon of unbiased newsreporting, that pushed me over the edge.
Where are donations found?
Why do you or I have to give our tax dollars to our sworn enemies at PBS and NPR?
I doupt that he he a swing voter, unless he is referring to his sex life!
Hey, it's like all tax paying Americans were in a labor union.
"Where are donations found?"

It reminds me of the seminar callers that call Rush and Hannity and claim to be "undecided" and then spout every Kerry campaign talking point
Maybe we should form a Union for Taxpayers.
