Several Arabs were among the terrorists who recently murdered over 350 people in a Russian school. Im not surprised. But how many Arabs in the Middle East even try to connect the dots that link their current radical culture of Islam to these unspeakable deeds around the world? They simply do not see the connection, and unfortunately the world media are not doing their job of informing the Arab world. CNN clearly believes that being objective means never blaming Arab culture --and supporting Arab views in its delivery of Mid-East news.
Until age 30, I lived as a Muslim in the Middle East. Horrible news such as that from Russia and other incidents in the Philippines, India, the Sudan or Pakistan was always covered up and twisted to portray Muslim terrorists around the world as victims of terrible discrimination. They were always portrayed as freedom fighters in the minority who needed to rise against the majority Christian or non-Muslim populations in their midst.

Looks like Nonie might be approaching a moment of truth: your "religion" is a fraud.
I am sending it via e-mail with instructions to continue to pass along

Sent it to my wife. She has a friend that just got her citizenship after leaving Iran. She said she and her husband were voting for Kerry. We are in Seattle so it is to be expected!:(
Honest and in-depth analysis of current issues involving Mideast culture and politics from the perspective of a woman of Mideast descent. The point is not to criticize the religion of Islam, but rather to bring about understanding of the Mideast and encourage Arabs and Moslems to have open and mutually respectful dialogue without fear, oppression or retaliation. A religion is judged by the behavior of the people who practice it. It is up to Moslem/Arab people to seek either International respect or International fear of their Religion. There is a lot of silence from Arab/Moselms after 9/11 and little outrage. Ms. Darwish is not ashamed to express her dissapointment and anger over what happened by the very culture she grew up in. This is not disloyalty but love for her culture of origin. She realizes that many in the Mideast and Moslems in America need to do much honest soul-searching. Many need to recognize the magnitude of the horrific events of 9/11, and cease the denial of Arab/Muslim responsibility. Ms. Darwish cherishes her Mideast background but she will defend America and its Constitution as all US citizens should. She takes her pledge of allegiance to the US flag seriously. Nonie Darwish is a writer, former editor and translator. She was born and raised in the Middle East and lived in the USA for over two decades. She is married with 3 children.
Nonie better watch his back.
Exactly.
An awful lot of Arab Americans are Christians who are here because after the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, the Muslims in the area began persecuting them (or their ancestors) regularly rather than just in fits and starts as during the Ottoman period (and because the Israelis don't treat them much better). The Arab Americans I know responded to the murders in Beslan by including a petition for the souls of those killed in the commemoration of the faithful departed during the Great Entrance of the Divine Liturgy.
Nonie Darwish is a Christian.
Is she related to Mahmoud or Elissa Darwish?
Still is the Majority Christian
Arab Christians are still the Majority here.
