I got a letter the other day, the daily I’ve-stopped-reading-you-because letter that accused me of being “intolerant” of other points of view. I suspect that for some, “intolerant” means unwilling to agree with points of view I find unsupportable. You will, I hope, note that this site spends very little time on taxes, regulation, stem cell research, abortion, the death penalty, gay marriage, environmentalism, school vouchers, mass transit, clog dancing, circumcision, Central Standard Time, Coke V. Pepsi, or any other major issue of the day. Now and again I’ll bring one of them up. But not often. I do bring up the war more than any other issue, because I happen to believe we’re in one, and it should be won. I have no problem debating strategies and objectives, but there are some arguments that bore me right away. I am not intolerant of these ideas. I’m just tired of them. They come from some Happy-clappy parallel universe where Islamic terrorists do not bayonet little kids in the gut when they ask for water. I do not live there.

Is Wallace Shaw referring to the Clinton "Lie under oath" administration?" I did and do not care who Clinton "blonks" or when but when he lied under oath and the democratic party says , Oh, that is OK. It is all over for the Demos.

Maybe Mr. Shaw is talking about the Carter Admin. and how appeasement does not work even though Jimmy "Castro: Carter never learned that.

Any and all politicians have one objective after getting elected and that is to stay elected.

I love James Lileks. I just sent him an e-mail praising this column. He very effectively uses photos of terrorist incidents to make his point.

I recommend everyone bookmark Lileks as one of their frequently visited sites. His perspective and common sense, as well as his humor, often cheer me when I am looking at the writings of some mainstream media idiot.

Yes, they are. Some days Lileks focuses on popular culture and family life. Some days, not. I check him every day, because when he does focus on the war and the political, he is spot on.

When he emphasizes other things, I find myself interested as well, because he shares my tastes. (He HATES the fashions, decor, and music of the 70's. I concur. He is a man of discriminating tastes. LOL!)
