A recapitulation of last week's FreeRepublic/Protest Warrior counterdemo demo.

Before I continue, I'd just like to note that this report on Thurday's activities in Manhattan has been passed on to me by another freeper, whose posting privileges have been revoked.

Well, well, well. Once again, the Kerry supporters "shined" brightly last night. Yet, there were many conservative protesters out on the streets, whom the media chose to ignore. On Thursday, a few freepers met up with "Protest Warrior" to make our voices heard and ruffle a few feathers on the left; both missions were accomplished.

First, we hit Herald Square to take on the liberals at "Hardball." A man-approximately 35 yrs. of age, with a very effeminate voice and John Davidson-type haircut, introduced himself as a representative of the "Dmocratic National Committee." He was distributing "Mission Not Accomplished" signs. He asked me (God Luvs America), if I wanted one, while he was reading my button, which boldly proclaimed: "10 Out Of 10 Terrorists Agree...Anbody But Bush."

He quizically read the message, but didn't get the point. "Are you for or against Bush?" he asked. I just laughed and shook my head.

Later, this Kerry supporter showed his true class. A few young Republicans working at the convention made their way to the front of the line. One of them asked the Kerryite if she could squeeze in front of him, to get to her friends. His response? "Only if you make out with me and let me in your pants." She got very upset-verging on tears-and that sparked the night's first altercation, as I moved in behind this slime-ball and invited him to take on a slightly larger individual. (I'm 6-2, 210 lbs.) Of course, he threatened to call Security and have me thrown out.

During the second confrontation, one lib was screaming that the Rep. Convention was "costing NYC $15 million!" I responded by saying that perhaps if she and other Kerry supporters could protest peacefully and behave like civilized individuals, rather than beat up cops, the need for a police presence at these events would not be quite as urgent. In fact, I suggested that NYC should've done the same thing the 'rats did with protesters in John Kerry's liberal state...namely, put them in cages! She and her male companion quickly left.

Then, it was on to meeting all the other Protest Warriors, whilst grabbing a sign and taking on the dirtbags from ANSWER, who were more than happy to support Kerry.

Marching down 9th Ave., we passed the Garden and arrived to a large round of applause from conventioneers entering MSG. What suprised me was the sheer amount of "Average Joe" minorities who cheered us on and chanted along to the chorus of "FOUR MORE YEARS!"

As the odor turned putrid, I could tell that we were moving into the belly of the beast, 6th Ave. bet. 23rd and 26th.

The crowd was full of your typical liberal losers. All of the world's ills-according to their signs-are the direct fault of the president of the United States. It was hate the president, hate Republicans and hate America.

While they were complaining about "tax cuts for the rich", one of our fellow protestors-in this case, a very proud gay man who was sporting a handmade "FAGS FOR BUSH" teeshirt-grabbed the megaphone and shouted: "In order to get a tax cut, you have to pay taxes. In order to pay taxes, you need a job. So stop complaining." Even the cops laughed at that one.

You could tell the Kerry supporters were quite intelligent and armed with facts. Even though I took off from work to participate in this event, I was continuously bombarded with the line: "Who's paying you to carry that sign?" (Meanwhile, they turn a blind eye to the fact that their organization-ANSWER-has communist ties, and is funded to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars by fellow leftists.

One liberal did infiltrate our position. She happened to be a very nice woman, who was a teacher at FIT. She discussed the issues with us in a civilized manner. I spoke with her at length, as did others. However, she was the exception to the rule. At one point, she noted that the phalanx of police officers separating us from the Kerry supporters were all facing them, not us.

Someone was holding a sign: "Republicans Tend To Be White." Of course, the person holding the sign aloft was a white man. My response was: "Democrats tend to be stupid." The sign came down.

The Kerry supporters can be summed up by a man who had a reversible sign, which read: "F*CK THE NYPD" on the front, and "THE NYPD ARE A BUNCH OF P*SSIES" on the back.

Of course, when he joined the group, we were arguing against his position, while no one on his side flinched, or even told him that his sign was inappropriate. I continually baited them to try and get a response to the sign, but it was a no-go. After two hours, it was back to HQ, up on 6th Avenue, where the cops were high-fiving us as we proceeded on our way. Of course, the Kerry supporters threw traffic cones at us, as they coureageously ran in the opposite direction.

Within a week, I will be able to-as Warner Wolf used to say-"Go to the tape!", as it was all recorded on a digital camera. This is God Luvs America (No longer able to post on FR, a site that he loves), dialing out.

"These feckless wimps have to realize that just because they dominate popular culture, doesn't mean that they can shove these pathetic, timeworn socialist ideas down our throats without a fight."

Agreed, the Leftist need to feel our proverbial knuckles upon their teeth...and when they whine, we need to bring it on that much harder!! We need to pout it on 'til November 2nd...and beyond!!

I wholeheartedly agree.

We need more spirited freepers out there, combating the lies of the socialist spin machine.

Have fun!

I think that Cheney was involved in some event centered around the Statue of Liberty last weekend.

It was organized by my local Republican club in Brooklyn, though I didn't have the opportunity to attend, myself.

Would have loved to have gone. Though, I didn't relish the idea of getting on the Staten Island Ferry.

I was continuously bombarded with the line: "Who's paying you to carry that sign?"

Whenever asked that question, just answer: "The tall lady in New York Harbor. You know...the one with the torch."

Not bad.

Not bad at all.

There were some classic zingers that I didn't get to try out last week on the liberal detritus.

Hopefully, I'll get a chance to break them open once this election season has concluded.

Here are some pictures from the counter protest on Thursday, September 2, 2004, the night President Bush spoke at the convention, the area surrounding Madison Square Garden was in a lockdown.  I made them lighter and shrunk them to fit on the page, to see the full picture, right click the picture then properties, copy  and paste the link in the browser or make a folder in "my pictures" then right click the picture and "save picture as".

I think the Protest Warrior/Freep counter protest was finally conducted on 8th Ave. and 28th Street where they put the protest warriors in the corral, at that time, I was with the commies in their corral on 8th and 27th, the police had every block corralled for the commie group for a number of blocks to accommodate the mass of people there.  While I was there, I took some pictures of their signs and talked to some of the people protesting the republicans. Many flew in from other states and when I asked them who paid the airfare none would answer.  As GodLuvsAmerica said they were smelly and dirty.  I don't think many had proper lodgings.  Some would stay in shelters and churches as the minister in this article stated in an unrelated story (red print).  I  presume they housed these people illegally in church basements?

I noticed that many were dirty, disheveled, rude, immoral, unpatriotic, cursed President Bush, the GOP, the Cops and anyone else they could think of.  They weren't too happy; I feet sorry for them.  Most could not properly discuss the issues in any rational manner and were very misinformed on most of these issues.  I think communist and secular humanist brainwashing in the schools and universities is working for the dumbing down of education which is proven with the likes of those who were there.  Many of them were just airhead and little minions who were told where to go and what to say.  It was pretty pathetic.

After much walking, I finally found a way to get close enough and enter the warrior's corral.    Once in, I joined in the chants and took some pictures.   I asked the guy wearing  the "Fags for Bush"  tee-shirt  why he was for President Bush who gave a rather pragmatic answer stating that if ever the terrorists would win, he, as a "fag" would be the first to go, then the Jews, then the Christians.  He knew how Clinton and the Democrats were so weak with the terrorists over the 8 yrs. they were in office so he would rather have President Bush and the Republicans win the election so they can continue the fight against the war on terrorism.

(these events are to the best on my recollection and may not be in order, once the video is posted you can see it as it happened)

Once the protest was over we began to head back to the home base. On our way we passed a police trailer where a female PO stuck her head out the door, I guess she heard our "4 more Years" chant,  and once she saw her signs and realized who we were, she stuck out her hand where most of us "high fived" her as we walked by.  During this time we were followed by a small group of anarchists.

I think it was near herald square while we were attempting to cross the street, we were "headed off at the pass" by the NYPD.  Remember, because of the President being in town and on high security alerts, many streets were on lockdown and groups seen by the helicopters above were under surveillance. We were all told to stop and asked who we were, what we were doing and where we were going.  We were let go and as we arrived at another street corner, we were surrounded by about 30 cops on motor scooters where we met a one-star NYPD chief with a bull horn who told us to put our signs down, that we had our fun and the rally was over.  He finally let us cross the street 10 at a time followed with a bicycle cop, once we arrived a home base, we took apart the signs then went to the New Yorker Hotel to watch the remaining of the President's speech at the hospitality room. I did a lot of PR work for the Free Republic, many have heard of the site, read the posts and just never registered, I hope they come on board.

We then left on foot to a get together sponsored by the Young Republicans at the Bedford Hotel where low and behold we walk in and are greeted by 4 other freepers, PARodrig (running for Congress), cacique, Oschisms and rmlew.  After a while Roy and Niger Innis from CORE came in and talked for a bit then left.  I left around 2 AM.  It was a loooooong day and a long 4 days of protesting and counter protesting.

The first few pics were taken while I was with the anarchist commie slobs, I took some pics of their signs and then of the warriors who were about a half block down, the rest are from within the pen.  I would like to say that I had a terrific time with the protest warriors and freepers and glad they made this all possible.  The NYPD did a great job.  The anarchists weren't given the opportunity to pillage and destroy the city as they did in Seattle and Philadelphia; the NYPD kept the city both safe and civil giving everyone the opportunity to protest and to have a good time.

Hey Tony, look what we got here.

Another first-hand account, plus some pretty amazing photographs.

I'm sure that they also have some good stuff on Protest Warrior.

Personally, I haven't checked back with their site for a few weeks, so I wouldn't know.

Thanks for the free ping Coleus.

"Cacique" is going to be posting a thread(s) in the coming weeks, detailing how the campaign has been going thus far.

If any of you New Yorkers or New Jerseyans, or residents of the 'Constitution State', would like to contribute your time, energy or cash to Paul's bid for elective office in the 12th congressional district, feel free to contact either Frank or Paul, when you have the opportunity.

Even if you can't help out directly, be sure to tell any friends or relatives-who may currently be living in Brooklyn, Queens or Manhattan-about this campaign, and how they can assist a promising young conservative Republican in his quest to change the torpid, static state of affairs in the Big Apple.

Wow.. what a report. I recall the protests from the 60's.. I was a college student & frankly scared of the freak show that it was. Cant say it is much different now. I am still afraid of them. Maybe i can join you & learn the survival techniques?

Kudos for you that went there & did your thing. I am bold enough to FReep Kerry, Edwards, Hitlery.. etc.. but you guys went BIG TIME! I watched the convention/protest coverage live but did not see you (wonder why, the media is so balanced?)

Thank you Scourge for thread & also thanks to the "banned freeper" (reminds me of movie The Village.. those whose name we cannot say etc... for sharing the info. In all that went on with convention & the aftermath, this was easy to overlook & your timing in presenting is great.

Coleus your photos/essay were great & thanks to nutmeg for ping..

Ragtime Cowgirl is our warrior in putting the troops out in front in the way we like. Interesting how at FR there are so many who contribute in various ways. She works on another front..
Being banned? Hmmm.. maybe another thread for another time. I know boundaries are necessary & civility is impt but we can't loose our good minds/people...
