This is a link to the Richmond VA area NWS webpage ((Wakefield VA)) which links to radar. Gaston is reorganizing, and was near Williamsburg VA at 7 pm. Munch munch nice warm bay water... The NHC said they were probably going to be covering it again, but I haven't seen an official advisory update. One weatherguesser on the boards suggested Gaston could go visit Long Island. Meanwhile, some areas of Southside VA have had over 10 inches of rain ((plus suspected tornadoes)).
Keep tuned.
How about NYC and drenching a bunch of freakish protesters :)
Richmond's been pounded by this damn storm most of the day, I've been watching it on Weatherbug. Here in VA Beach, however, we've seen only .3 in so far.
FRegards,

It's one helluva storm.
I left downtown Richmond at 5:00 and it took me three hours to get home. Was diverted about 5 times. It's nasty.
Canal Walk is underwater. For the Richmonders, three feet of water in Bottom's Up pizza. River rose 10 ft. in 20 minutes...
Mandatory evacuation in Chesterfield County below Falling Creek dam...
I probably have the same weatherbug readings that you do, because it is saying we've had .03 inches of rain.......well I can tell you that we had well over 2 inches of rain overnight and it had nothing to do with this particular storm.
It's been raining now for bout an hour, but not very heavily.
It poured in this section of the Shore last night.........but it has not been all that bad, yet, tonight.
Of course the worst of it doesn't seem to have crossed the bay yet, looking at the current radar.
It does look like Salisbury is about to get pouned.
Lovely.
Glad you finally got home.
Richmond got 8" of rain today. Twice what Isabel dumped on us last fall.
Powhatan "only" got 6".
I think I heard the Big One is due to hit us on Monday.
I swear, it's time to start building that ark out back. At this point, I don't even think the neighbors would think it weird. They'd probably help.
Just heard the Swift Creek evacuation is underway and water is spilling over the dam. Hope you are far away from there Corin.
Yeah, I'm okay. If my house goes underwater, we're all goners.
I'm worried about trees tho.
We have absolutely no wind at all......I mean total dead calm.
It's still raining, but not very hard, just steadily.
It stopped raining here about 9 or 10 this morning, but even at 5 this afternoon I encountered major water on some roads.
8 inches of rain today? I do not envy you with that amount. We would all be floating away over here with that amount of rain. We just can't handle anymore water.
I'm glad everyone's safe so far. We live in the West End, but got stuck in Hanover at 301 and Shady Grove Rd. 301 was flooded in both directions. Shady Grove was closed. New Ashcake closed at Sliding Hill Rd. After moving all the cars pushed out of they way, they finally opened up Northbound 301 and alternated traffic so we could make it back to I-295 after two and a half hours.
I consider myself lucky after what I was hearing on WRVA...
I spoke too soon - it's raining to beat the band right now.
Nothing like what you folks have dealt with all day, and what I'm reading you are putting up with now, but it's coming down hard.
I has to raise the volume on the TV to hear Guliani's speech over the sound of it.
How is Glouchester??? ON the York. Got family there. Any help appreciated.
Wish I could help you out - I'm over on the Eastern shore and am not even really sure where Glouchester is.
One daughter on Monument...got caught earlier near that area and managed to get home. Other daughter was in orientation for a job and couldn't get back to VCU, almost swept away in water (in her car), made it hours later in a round about way to a friend's house. This friend is really a friend of her roommate's mom, and works for State Police. She found her a way to get there. Roads are horrible...cell phones aren't even working most of the time.
Extremely Dangerous Flash Flood Event...Now Underway - Richmond, Virginia
Prayers for all those in the rain-soaked areas and for the rescue personnel.
Gloucester. I have friends in that County, specifically Gloucester Point on the York River.
In my area of Newport News, Virginia - adjacent to James City and York Counties - was barely brushed. The Denbigh Shower Curtain once again worked. The Counties were hit pretty hard with heavy rain, fallen trees and power outages. I had about ¼ - ½ an inch of rain and little wind.
