Democratic Presidential candidate John Kerry says Christmas 1968 is seared in his memory. He was on a secret mission to plant a CIA agent in Cambodia. It was President Richard Nixon's idea, he said.
"I remember Christmas of 1968 sitting on a gunboat in Cambodia," he says. "I remember what it was like to be shot at by the Vietnamese and Khmer Rouge and Cambodians, and have thePresident of the United States telling the American people that I was not there; the troops were not in Cambodia. I have that memory which is seared -- in me."

"Like the grain of rice in his Clymer!" Wonderful!
He is a real piece of work, is he not?? Sometimes I think that maybe being an extreme liberal would be fun...just think...all fantasy becomes reality. Wow, more fun than Disneyland.
1. President Nixon was not President Christmas of 1968.
2. Therefore Nixon could not have ordered the mission.
3. Kerry's diary says he was in Vietnam at Christmas, not Cambodia.
4. Vets say it was impossible to go there by boat.
5. Kerry had so little time (4 months) that he barely could be trained to handle his own boat and men by that time.
6. Kerry says it was seared into his conscious testifying to the U.S. Senate in 1971 and the Boston Globe.
7. Kerry fakes throwing his medals/ribbons at the White House.
8. Kerry now says it wasn't Christmas but on 4 other occasions.
9. Kerry now questioned about his first purple heart. His commander remembers Kerry launching a grenade and hit by his own shrapnel and requesting the purple heart.
10. Conclusion: Unfit for Command
Ping. Please read the item off the internet.
John Kerrys Cambodian Christmas
(To be sung to the tune of White Christmas
with the most sincere apologies to Irving Berlin)
Verse:
The war is raging
I'm on my boat
Ferrying CIA.
There's never been such a day
Here or on Cam Ranh Bay.
But it's December the 24th
We're fighting gooks from Vietnam north ...
Chorus:
I'm dreaming of a Cambodian Christmas
Although there'll be no snow or ice.
On a secret mission
With bullets whizzing
Ouch! My butt's shot full of rice.
I'm dreaming of a Cambodian Christmas
With every Charlie that I shoot.
Nixon's war is stealing my youth
Hope the girl I marry has some loot.
I'm dreaming of a Cambodian Christmas
Just like the one I never knew.
Wonder why my shipmates
Express such deep hate
For me, I really have no clue.
I'm dreaming of a Cambodian Christmas
I hope my gift's a Purple Heart.
War crimes in which I played a part
Will give my political career a start.
Check the obnoxious comments at the bottom. Freepers help this guy out.
That could easily become my favorite carole.
No problem, TexNonRev.
On the floor of the Senate on March 27, 1986, Sen. John Kerry issued this statement: "I remember Christmas of 1968 sitting on a gunboat in Cambodia. I remember what it was like to be shot at by Vietnamese and Khmer Rouge and Cambodians, and have the President of the United States telling the American people that I was not there; the troops were not in Cambodia. I have that memory which is seared seared in me."
Mr. Kerry's statement at the time was similar to other statements he had made after returning from duty in Vietnam, and throughout much of the 1970s.
Writing for the Boston Herald in October 1979, Mr. Kerry said this: "I remember spending Christmas Eve of 1968 five miles across the Cambodian border being shot at by our South Vietnamese allies who were drunk and celebrating Christmas. The absurdity of almost being killed by our own allies in a country in which President Nixon claimed there were no American troops was very real."
First, the obvious: Richard Nixon was not president in December 1968, and no history of the Vietnam era suggests that Lyndon Johnson ever ordered troops into Cambodia ...
So it appears that he said this in 1968. I hope this helps,
I think TexNonRev got zotted.

I'm LOL at the replies that the author is an internet lackey. He obviously reads the Phila. Inquirer for his "unbiased news".
Hubby keeps threatening to cancel the Inquirer, but my daughter loves the crossword - I do too, truth be known. But I'm so tempted. What a rag.
Some other A-hole just reader commented. Any Freepers feel like responding?
I keep trying to get others to cancel but they like the crossword. OTOH, nobody likes the TV section anymore.
I loathe to talk or question a Vet's medals but IMHO Kerry lost me in '71 when he joined Fonda and the commies.
