Losing the Americans won't remove much color. Look at the immigrant population of Germany. It's many, many times larger than the American military presence.

(Since then I always thought of the US Air Force as a bigger danger to the Army than the Russians! ;-)


I was in Air defense Artillary the air force always considered us a bigger threat than the enemy.They just couldn't get over the idea that an army private with stinger missle could bring down thier multi million dollar aircraft and ruin thier whole day.I enjoyed pointing out to them that thier friendly fire record was no where near as good as ours.
