A who's who of top popular musicians will take to the stage in Pittsburgh and cities in eight other presidential battleground states beginning the first week of October. Their goal? "We're trying to put forward a group of progressive ideals and change the administration in the White House," said Bruce Springsteen, one of the acts.
Ah, yes, "progressive ideals." For those of you not up on the latest liberal nomenclature, that's the new phraseology of choice for contemporary enlightened thinkers advocating that tried and failed political philosophy previously known as socialism.
Organizers of the "Vote for a Change" tour are planning nearly three dozen shows in more than two dozen cities beginning Oct. 1. James Taylor and the Dixie Chicks are among those scheduled to perform in Pittsburgh. Mr. Springsteen will headline a show in Philadelphia. Promoters are hoping millions of dollars will be raised.
America Coming Together, or ACT, is organizing the series of shows. It hopes to get out the vote in states they believe are critical to the success of Democrat presidential nominee John Kerry and crucial to the demise of President George Bush.
ACT is one of those boilerplate "sheeple" groups that slavishly follow the lead of the Democratic National Committee and the rich leftists -- they'd be "excessively rich" if conservative -- who are utilizing provisions of the new campaign finance "reform" law to promote their case. MoveOnPAC, the political arm of the supposedly apolitical MoveOn.org will "present" the shows.
All bill themselves as humble, grassroots organizations, raising money from the oppressed little guy and gal who are tired of the big money -- always conservative big money -- in politics.

BUMP
Terrific! Bookmarked it for quick reference.
BTW, do you think that when Arnold was talking about "girlie men" he may have been referring to Mike Farrell?
I still say it would be hilarious for republicans to buy up all the tickets to these concerts. Then, either a.) not show up so these losers play to empty venues or b.)show up so it looks like they have sold out crowds and then boo and heckle them mercilessly and walk out ala Linda Ronstadt. Is there some rich republican somewhere who would buy up the tickets and ditribute them through GOP groups so this could happen. It would be priceless to see!
Bump!
That's just it. How many billions do you think Springsteen, Soros, Streisand, and the rest of the limo libs have at their disposal? What's stopping them from spreading their largesse to all the "unfortunates" who, according to libs, constitute about 97% of the population? The answer is nothing is stopping them. These people are dangerously ignorant or, like Soros, seeking power to do damage.
Someone conservative Republican should figure out all those tax loopholes aimed to help rich entertainers then propose laws closing them in the name of the fairness to the working man. Call it the "Bruce Springsteen Fair Play For The Workin' Man Bill."
I expect a flop, just as we have seen with other such events lately... was it "Band-Aid"?.. I dunno ... one of those flower-power-magea-shows closed the doors this year because nobody was buying what they were selling.
Of course if this tour only drew an audience of 11 people the MM would report it in vague glowing terms caling it a huge success, then claim it was forced to close due to censorship.
Thanks for posting a good piece of writing. I am eager to see if these f--ks sell many tickets and, more importantly, I am eager to see how we good guys behave outside the gates. If I wasn't up in Alaska I'd be planning to demonstrate at the nearest concerts. Screw Marxist scum. We have a moral obligation to shame, shun and scorn them.

What is in the air in Hollyweird? These people, these limousine liberals have dead air between their ears.

I've been sick of hearing the same two Springstein songs on the radio for the past twenty years. Enuf already!
Yep, but I expect nothing less from a musician who got inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist, completely ignoring that there was an E Street Band behind him? There was some technicality involved regarding their being listed as such on the first album that prevented them from being in, and Bruce never fought the hall on it, nor did he ever try to get them inducted at a later date. He could have put his foot down with the hall over it, but he couldn't be bothered.
At any rate, when the Grateful Dead were inducted, Jerry Garcia insisted that all the band's members be inducted, even though some of them weren't in the band for the 25-year time frame involved. Who'd have thought that Jerry Garcia would be more of a standup guy than Springsteen was?
