OT- I need your Help, ASAP (I included some pictures)

Hello fellow FReepers,

I need you help, not on a political issue, but on a personal one. First let me Give you a little background on the matter; Rusty is my neighbor’s dog, I often take care of him (the dog, not the neighbor). Rusty is everything you’d want a dog to be like, playful, loving, smart, great with children, healthy, and a Republican :o); unfortunately, he’s also homeless; my neighbor is moving TODAY and Rusty’s going to a shelter; unfortunately, he’s only got 5 days before they put him down.

I already have two dogs of my own and I cannot take in another one; I would love nothing more that to keep him, but I can’t. My dad bought 'Ranger' and supposedly he was pure breed, Dad did see the mother. Obviously he is not, mostly Boxer but not entirely.

We are not sure what he (or likely his father) is mixed with.

He looks a lot like 'Rusty' and your dog.

Rusty update.....

We have been working out the logistics....looks like Rusty will arrive here Monday morning.... Mark has been a special trooper (as I'm sure his other two pups and mother have been) trying to accomodate our schedule. But think we finally have a plan and can't wait!!!!

Rusty will fly out midnight Sunday...I know it's only a dog...but would appreciate a little prayer that he does okay...we'll pick him up about 5 1/2 hours later Hope he isn't too stressed.

Get a vet to give him a mild sedative. Thousands of animals are moved around this country every day, with no incident.

You are meant to have this dog, and he is meant to live out the rest of his days with you!

Rusty looks like a strong, smart but mellow fellow. A very good dog.

Rusty flies here next Monday. We'll pick him up about 8:30 in the morning. Great suggestion about having some rags with Marks scent. I'll definately post pictures. Thanks for your interest!

I love dogs! (Cats are near and dear to me, too.)
We put down our greyhound (in her 17th year!) last September. Because of other family members' health issues and the additional responsibilities for me, we cannot have another dog at this time.
I will enjoy following Rusty's trip to his new home through your eyes.
