Terrorists in the Abu Musab Zarqawi network in Iraq are specifically trying to kidnap an American female service member to further horrify the U.S. public.

Two senior defense sources said the word is being passed within the network on the importance of taking one or more women hostage.

Beyond being a sh$the@d, sorry ladies but this is a good reason why women should not be allowed near the battle lines. Call me sexist if you want, you'd be wrong.

Maybe this reward increase is related??

Reward for Terrorist Zarqawi Raised to $25 Million (Update1)

July 1 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. raised its reward for Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, an al-Qaeda linked terrorist operating in Iraq, from $10 million to $25 million, the State Department said.

Zarqawi ``has a long-standing connection to the senior leadership of al-Qaeda,'' the Department said in an e-mailed statement. ``His organization has committed numerous atrocities in Iraq in recent months.''

U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell authorized the increase in the reward offered for information leading to Zarqawi's arrest or conviction, the statement said.

Zarqawi, a 36-year-old Jordanian, is blamed by the U.S. for the murder in Iraq in May of Nick Berg, a U.S. citizen, whose execution was shown on videotape. A group associated with Zarqawi claimed responsibility for last month's beheading of a South Korean taken hostage while working as a translator in Iraq.

Coalition forces conducted an air strike on a known safe house used by Zarqawi's network in the town of Fallujah, the U.S. military command said. It cited a statement by Brigadier General Mark Kimmitt, deputy director of operations for the multinational force responsible for security in Iraq.

The operation involved precision weapons fired at the house, the statement said, without giving any other details.

Zarqawi is said to have been in Fallujah helping to organize an insurgency that began in April and lasted for a month in the Sunni Muslim city 64 kilometers (40 miles) west of Baghdad.

Zarqawi Tape

An audiotape, purportedly made by Zarqawi, last month threatened to assassinate Ayad Allawi, the prime minister of Iraq's interim government that took power on Monday from the U.S.- led administration.

The tape broadcast on an Islamic Web site mentioned the fighting in Fallujah.

`` All of this happened because I was thought to be in Fallujah, but do those fools not know that I move around through all of Iraq, staying with brothers and treated as their guest,'' the voice on the tape said.

Ah there you are. Case in point, eh? We have to get this guy and NOW. I don't want to sign on and read that they have an American woman. It was bad enough when they had men.

He's even singling out rescue missions and non-combat types, women who don't even shoot at people. They know women aren't in combat. I guess they justify it because women are support.

...this is a good reason why women should not be allowed near the battle lines.

I agree with you 100%. There have been many proofs of this truth already. The hype over the POW woman (Jessica?), the L. England fiasco, etc. Bring the girls home now! Bring the men home when were done killing the enemy.

Well, let's be honest. Say he does this. What are we going to do about it?

Nothing. Not one thing more than we're doing now. We can't. And he knows it.

So, from his viewpoint, why not?
