America is going to learn the hard way that the United Nations works against it's interest.

Very true. But when both political parties are in love with the UN and love open borders, amnesty for 20 million illegals and doing away with the Constitution, writing our Senators is OK, but are any of them strong enough to swim against the tide? Obviously, not many.

Sorry folks. I've read and linked and looked and I CANNOT find anything but penalties for physically violent crimes against race, religion, etc....nothing that could remotely be construed about "thoughtcrimes against a religion."
Running off to yell about a bill before reading it does our credibility no good.

Pull your head out of your boyfriend's rear-end. You know no one here said that violence against gay's was Christian. This bill punishes the thought behind the crime which is quite Orwellian.

As far as I can see, HR 4200 relates primarily to military matters.

HR 4200 is the defence authorisation bill -- you're right, Mike. What people need to oppose is (1) a hate-crimes amendment to 4200, and (2) any attempt by a conference committee (not yet formed) to resolve a difference between the Senate bill which contains the Orwellian language, and the House bill which (if the amendment is defeated, which it probably will be) will not.

It is too early for (2). People should conduct (1): write (a personal letter, not an email, or language cut and pasted from somebody else, each of which goes into file 13) or call (even better) opposing "any hate-crimes amendment" to 4200. If your congressthing is conservative, or a fence-sitter, say you're against the amendment; if your congressthing is a liberal, gayster, someone who will be strong for the amendment say that you oppose the amendment because the defence bills shouldn't be used for social engineering, and in wartime this bill is too important. Ask him why he's against defence (actually you will likely talk to a summer intern, whose job is to answer the phone and, you know, the things interns do [slurp!]).

The worst thing you can do is say you "oppose HR 4200" like some of these half-cocked people have done -- it gets you marked down as an idiot.

Once again, 4200 is the DOD Authorization bill. The hate crimes bill, the left will attempt to attach to 4200 because 4200 is sure to pass. (Even Barney Fwank isn't going to vote against it, and hate-crime perfectly defines the way he feels about soldiers).
