As with all cases returned on indictment the New York Times was sent a copy of the complaint and given the option to repond to it with a defense. This is the VERBATIM response just received from the NY Times Public Editor. So tell me! Why did he think he had to respond at all????
Dear Court Clerk,
We're not logging into a site to "defend complaint."
If you have an issue with a Times article you can send us a message like everyone else, citing an article and the specifics regarding it.
Sincerely, Arthur Bovino Office of the Public Editor
So, the case has received a response from the defendant and it is now open for verdict judgment.
Whaaaa??????
Thats why the NYT is known as The New York Slimes!!!!
Hello?
I'm not wearing my decoder ring. Can I buy a clue...?
Is there some sort of legal action pending against FreeRepublic by The New York Times Corporation?
I just wish I had more information to go on than the scanty details that were included in this brief post.
If you could clarify the issues here, then I would deeply appreciative.
Click on the link.... Looks to me like an invitation to get involved in another website. This is a teaser. (?)
This is probably not the best way to advertise another website, if I may so gently suggest.
(The making of another classic thread!)
There is something called Press Court, which I never heard of before, but was posted earlier. The originator of this post needs to post links and explain. It sounds like they got a rise out of the NYT, though. Congrats to PressCourt.
OK If you were not paying attention earlier this evening here is the posting made then...

Only if the Admin Moderator adds "Ignore This Post" to the title...
I know my three-card monte when I see it.
If this is some ploy to play into someone else's self-promotion, then count me out.
Well if I post links all over the place that would be a bad thing... There were quite a few people coming in from this site earlier this evening. I guess I misjudged the amount of people who come here. Geesh... Hats off..
oh before I forget

Am I incorrect in any of these conclusions?
OK I hear ya. Defending the board is more important than the news. That's ok. I'll stop here. If you want to come to the process of making news accountable you can do it on your own. So much for conservative support.
Thanks for posting the link again. It's just that the people on this site at any given time are not the same and frankly, I never heard of presscourt before your post. I'm glad that something like presscourt exists, but I am surprised that the NYT thought enough of it to reply. Good going!
I just needed some clarification on what we were discussing, so that we could better utilize the information that you wanted us to be aware of in the first place.
The website looks pretty interesting. Though, after reading through the innumerable amount of bylaws and rules governing the site itself, I decided to take a pass.
If I enjoyed reading legalistic jargon I would have taken the LSAT and been a member of the Bar-like my uncle-by now.
